  1. You could use the assessments area to record homework set/received and the mark etc (marksheet style)... however I cant think of any way of informing automatically that a due date is approaching... This is probably one for the developers at serco to add to the wish list.
  2. It will probably depend upon how specific the reports are ... if you are using the 'default' KS3 models or similar then the reports will already exist...
  3. There are plenty of independent consultants who will charge far less than serco for consultancy / report writing... maybe worth asking your LA for assistance or training as several now offer CMIS courses etc
  4. Serco have a tool for deleting such duplicate records - Tablefix.exe Are you using the latest version of ePortal (with the latest patch)...
  5. The table is "UKSTUSTATS" Fieldname is "SLASCGiftedTalented" This isnt a reccomendation to directly edit the tables tho...
  6. No, eportal will not require an upgrade. Full advice is being provided to Birmingham Secondary Schools via telephone and to all schools via the Link2ICT website which has been updated.
  7. 2.81.9 is a complete build of admin
  8. Link2ICT are aware that it is not always easy for the correct individuals in school to be aware of upgrades / other issues. As a result we are putting into place a new system which should become operative soon and schools will informed of this over the next few weeks. A further build of CMIS (2.81.9) will be available to download from the Link2ICT website (for Birmingham Schools only) later today - we intend to contact secondary schools individually re this.
  9. If you are using document storage within cmis, the folders used are designated in Database¦Document Storage¦Settings..
  10. @limbo - As my post - schools who we were aware could be affected by this problem were telephoned directly, therefore if you were not you shouldnt need to do a further upgrade. - Unless you have Perm exclusions in Spring Term. I cant comment here on any support calls you may have logged but will look into it.
  11. If you highlight the report and click on 'create' A copy of the system report is created and you can edit this to your hearts content.... note the name of the report usually is appended with 'new'
  12. As soon as a problem had been identified with the 2.81.8 release (which only affects schools with Permanent Exclusions in the Spring Term) Link2ICT pasted a message on the downloads page of the website informing users of the issue. We also contacted via telephone all schools who had been identified (by the Exclusions Team) as having Permanent Exclusions in the period in question to inform the Network Manager directly of the issue. It is clear in these circumstances that telephone communication is preferable to an email which may have been missed. Schools had been informed via e-briefing, servicedesk telephone line messages and at numerous events over the last three months that there would be an upgrade required before the Summer Census could be returned. We always listen to feedback from our users and welcome constructive comments.
  13. No, if the sql server is fully backed up then there isnt a need to backup cmis individually every day. It would be a good idea to back-up this way before upgrades etc...
  14. Yes you do.... well the system will re-start (or should do) overnight so changes should be fairly seemless.... Re-starts are needed for far fewer changes than previously...
  15. Hi, from the screen shots, that looks like eportal hasnt imported the templates correctly - id stop and start the eportal services and try again....
  16. Hi, from the screen shots, that looks like eportal hasnt imported the templates correctly - id stop and start the eportal services and try again....
  17. ePortal will have automatically re-started over the weekend so I guess thats not the problem... without looking at the templates etc its not easy to guess what else could be wrong... can you attach a screenshot of eportal with details of what you are expecting to see?>
  18. Have you created this today? and then logged into eportal to check it? If so you would need to re-start the eportal services to force through the new templates... otherwise you have followed the correct steps.
  19. You would need to back-up the webapps/eportal/conf folder and the images folders as these contain any customised xml - ie two week timetables etc etc and student photos etc
  20. Its generally well accepted that staff may have a need to access pupil details of those not directly in their own class - for example obtaining assessment results etc. As long as staff follow basic security procedures (log out etc etc) then there isnt a problem - lets remember that most teachers keep their desk/filing cabinet full of personal info on pupils!
  21. I wouldnt think that using tomcat was a reliable answer in the long-term. It has previously been shown to suffer from exactly the same issues that are now appearing, it is most likely that all the problems being experienced with eportal are as a result of this latest build which doesnt seem to have the benefit of all the previous fixes that have been applied. Using Tomcat or IE7 or Firefox are all possible ways round the problem in individual circumstances, but clearly dont answer the overall issues...
  22. Just like every member of staff having access to the MIS system in their classrooms to take registers... then forgetting to log out and pupils seeing each others details etc etc etc .... stopped that one by ensuring staff personal details were all on show! somehow they remember to log out then...
  23. Lots of schools are migrating from SIMS to CMIS for the very reason that Assessment if far more flexible in its useage. The Secondary school I worked in changed over in 2001 and have been able to really track student progress etc far easier than was possible in SIMS.
