We support a wide range of business applications used by the City Council and its partners. An opportunity has arisen to recruit a highly organised, motivated and flexible Systems Management Analyst. As part of the ICT Systems Team you will be at the very centre of ICT Support services to our customers. The Systems Team is responsible for the support and development of the authority’s line of business systems, working across schools, libraries, adult education, youth offending and corporate environments. This is a fixed term contract for two years. About you As a Systems Management Analyst you will be providing application support for key line of business systems used primarily in Coventry Schools. This is the SIMS and FMS Systems, so experience of these systems or similar is an advantage. You will be able to work independently dealing with support calls and cooperatively with colleagues to resolve outstanding tickets and will have a constant focus on improving our service. You will be keen to learn and take on new challenges. You will be required to attend meetings with schools, suppliers and partners, to improve the services that we provide. As part of our service to schools, we are currently working with schools to modernise their systems, moving from on-premise client server applications to cloud based services.   2. Sims crashes with viewing registers etc has in the past been caused by a child missing a name or having 'illegal' characters in their name. If it's only happening with one particular group of students make sure your data is clean.
  3. As others have said, stat returns, ctfs, exams data, timetabling still require it. Personally I would advise against using a local connect.ini as it can cause problems if you need to relocate your dB server. Also the data that is transacted in those processes above can be sensitive and having it stored locally on workstations is not the best idea particularly if they are laptops and not adequately encrypted.
