  1. Ah well, that's a shame. We have many photos to share and I want to make it a quick and easy operation for teachers to drop them somewhere and for them to be quickly viewable. W have a picasa account but the software can't see through our proxy (last time I checked anyway) VVdV
  2. No, currently its all in Webfronter. Nothing linking to or from.. I have made a frontpage in Webfronter which works just fine, then have a link to the pictures folder... It's this link which no longer works... VvdV
  3. Hello there, I am trying to find a quick and easy way to put pictures online on our website... I am hoping to use webfronter - not to make the whole site (well maybe eventually) but to create some pages. Currently I have some folders of photos set to thumbnail view which are viewable in fronter. When I publish a page with a link to the photo folder using webfronter, the link no longer works. Is there any way of making this work that you know? cheers VvdV
  4. Maybe, yes. As it's not really possible to get Office 97 licenses these days maybe I should just install that then and not worry...
  5. Hello - I'm setting up a number of EeePC mini laptops (again). They had Openoffice on them before which was ok but had many features we don't need (primary age kids). As a result they took ages to open up etc. I found an old disk for MS Office 97 in a hunt around the place and would like to install this on them as I have it on my Netbook and it runs fast and smooth... We obviously had licenses for this many years ago (no idea how many... Could be 1 could be 30!) What do you reckon in terms of licensing? Or is there another free office suite out there which is really good and lightweight. cheers VvdV
  6. Thanks for that... Our Junior Librarian Software is currently on a standalone Windows computer (our network is Mac based), so I don't think we can use the review features in the ICT suite. Our VLE is Fronter and I was thinking about making a Library page and using a forum as a sort of book review database but it would be pretty clunky and ugly - also we would not be able to share the childrens' reviews on the school website (which I'm keen to do). We don't have Sharepoint... So.. still looking but thanks all the same!
  7. Hi there I'd like to find/create a simple book review page for our website. Basically I want kids to fill in a simple form with their first name, book title, author and a field for the review itself. Then I'd like the reviews' titles to be sorted alphabetically and be clickable to take the user to the review. I was trying to figure out if there is a way to do it using google spreadsheets (which I use for discussion boards etc) Anyone got any good ideas? cheers VVdV
  8. Thanks all I actually managed to do it by embedding one of Twitter's own gadgets. Setting all the borders etc to white and covering some of the bits up with white objects. Seems to work ok! here VVdV
  9. Hello all, I would like to try using Twitter as a quick and simple way of adding information to our website which can be easily updated by other members of staff. For example, I could put it on the website front page and the head/admin could post a 'tweet' if the schooll is closed for any reason. I have tried Twitter's own widgets and none are quite right. The nearest is the plain html widget, but this adds information of when the tweet was made and thus makes the area look cluttered and ugly. The flash based ones have Twitter logos on them and I don't want anywhere that can be clicked to website users to go to twitter and our feed. I have tried using an rss feed from twitter but it does not show up in the free rss widgets I use - I think it may be something to do with the feed wanting a username and password before it can be viewed. Does anyone know of any good gadgets or siilar I can add to my website which will just show the tweets, without any graphics, timestamps etc? cheers VVdV
  10. Hi - you can see how many times each user has visited a room. Go to that room and choose 'portfolio' from the side tool bar. Go to the 'statistics' tab and choose 'all staff' or whatever from the dropdown box. Then click the view button. Should give a breakdown of visits by each user... cheers VvdV
  11. Hello, I want to rent a .com address for our school and have seen that there are many many websites out there offering to do this. Am a bit suspicious! So, is there a good reputable site that folks use for this that I can too? cheers VvdV
