I had an online demo from Tasc software today. I was very impressed. It's an easy to use front end for parents and equally easy back end for administration staff. Compared to Capita's solution it's far cheaper and much less complex to implement. I will be signing on the dotted line when the quote comes through next week.

Another fan here of refurbished printers. We buy them from Firstcall Printer Maintenance. They trade on Ebay as Highgate Printers. We tend to buy laserjet 4100N printers for about £70. Together with remanufactured high capacity toners the cost of printing is very low.

Go to the Auto screen and right click the block you want to change. You'll have a choice between suspending the rule completely or for clusters/teachers etc
