We have it now to block all. I'm then adding in paths rules to allow the shared area and the multimedia drive. When i login as test the software policy is stopping the login script setup the P: and Y: drives. The rules i set for these 2 drives are using drive letters. Should i be using the unc path to the shared folder?

i've had a go at using the gpo settings you posted. When i login as a kid i cant now apply a wallpaper. As soon as i've logged in you do see the new wallpaper kick in and replace whats there. When i log off, the wallpaper that was replaced is displayed for a few seconds whilst the pc logs off. How do we get rid of this?

We have setup software access policys so that they disallow .exe being run from D:,E:,F:, and from desktops. We have allowed unrestricted access to the shared area. This all works fine. The Z:\ which is mapped to the user home dir doesn't work. I 've set Z: so that it is disallowed, I can still run exe file from this drive. All other drives are mapped with login scripts. what going wrong?????

we have looked at plone. its good for an intranet. is no good externally in our case.
-
No they dont. our host is Herefordshire council.
-
your right, hadn't thought of that. What can happen is, a kid gets nasty email from a another kid. he then tells he parents. the parents complain to the school. Then falls on us to sort it out. In this case there maybe no good solution. That doesn't go well with the parent of the bullied kid.

we dont set a limit. we monitor the space being used. We never get an issue with space. we cant monitor every email that they send to each other.

We are looking for an open source content management system for our external web site. Our host only supports asp. It needs to be quite easy to setup as i dont have any knowledge of asp. Any reccomendations???

we run exchange. The kids have to have email accounts for some reason. All they use it for is spamming each other. some times bullying. Is there any way that we can stop them from emailing each other internally? All they need is to send and recieve external emails. we run exchg 2000

we turn ours off. we found it interfeared with sophos. we control it with GPO

this sounds like a good idea. If i set it to block exe files, wont it stop legit exe files from being run from a multmedia server?

we use Smart Reporter" by secure computing. Its good. does the same as what yours does. Its much tighter now than when it was called N2H2

thats the attitude we should have here. How do you stay on top of all the games. Theres so many, you could spend a lifetime just blocking them all the time.

we dont have roaming profiles

i've just replaced my crt tv with a lcd and want to connect a media centre. I'm inclined to go with mediaportal. My pc struggles with it. i think it needs bigger cpu. It would be nice if there was an IE plugin for it. I cant get the firefox plugin to work.

this is slightly related. is it posible to get glass or plastic covers to go on existing tfts.

ok i'll try applying an actual wallaper. Where should the wallpaper be kept? studnets dont have access to admin shares C: D:

how does the dc not talking to each other cause this? the intranet is hosted from the PDC. the other DC only do auth and dns

does it matter what size the bmp is? Perhaps i need to check what i've set in GP exactly what GP settings did you use?
-
I set the GP so that any refference to setting as wallpaper, was removed. They still must be find a way. Maybe they are setting them again after the policy has removed it. I think the policy isn't actually doing any think.

GP is set to push out the url of the intranet. It is applied to the students ou. I've noticed that some of the kids that are entering the school aren't getting the intranet as there home page. intead they are sent to windows updates. Any ideas???
-
we setup in GP the settings to push out a blank wallpaper, so that it would remove there pics of britney spears and fast cars etc. I tested this out on my server at home and it worked ok. The policy was applied to the students OU. I still see kids with stupid wallpapers. What are we doing wrong?
