  1. try kix32 login scripts works a treat for us everytime
  2. We had similar issue when migrating to 2k8. 2k8 GPOs have different settings, on you folder redirection click on documents and edit choose settings tab and remove the option to move documents to new location and make sure that Also apply restriction to Windows XP etc is ticked if that doesn't work it may be a profile edit you need to do if you have saved your redirects in there? check any logon scripts and event viewer on your main DC for clues.
  3. Thanks for your replies I will try all and get back
  4. Hi, Wondered if anyone has some suggestions regarding a problem we seem to have only with Word 2010. It is driving us mad:mad: When a user creates a word document with text boxes and pictures included and prints to a printer no images or text boxes appear even though the print preview suggests it will do. Interestingly this only happens when printing to A3 paper. If user selects A4 to same printer it prints perfect. Tried messing with print driver, word file options to no avail. We have the latest PCL driver for the printer installed on our print server. I would appreciate any suggestions? thanks
  5. Hi, We are going to remove Ranger from our network, it causes so many issues. I don't see the need for it as good GPO and web filter policy is adequate. However, one feature I do like (and its the only feature) is the ability to create software packages for deployment of small apps and configuration changes. My question is. Is there an Open Source alternative (or even a paid version) that can do this part only? Thanks
  6. I had a similar problem a while ago. What proxy / firewall are you using? I use SmoothWall and I found that the Time was not in synch with the main DC and LDAP stopped working. Maybe same problem maybe not but if you have SW or a non windows based firewall / proxy it is worth checking. also maybe a corrupt GPO, try creating a new OU with anew GPO with just the connection redirect in then move an affected account in there and see what happens.
  7. We have Uniservity here and the consensus here is that it is absolutely useless, hard to use and hard to engage students in interactive learning and collaboration. I have been looking at Moodle for a while and believe it is the way to go. There is no way to link moodle to SIMS as per the pre requiste for providing SIMS data to parents for 2010. However there are a few alternatives Capita are offering their own hosted version since Cheshire Shared Services binned the idea of a Cheshire Hosted solution due to resources and management issues. Capita's version is based on Sharepoint and will provide instant online access to parent directly to your SIMS Server. This poses a couple of questions such as what if a teacher posts the wrong info and parents see? What increase in load on the server you have SIMS on etc. If you have PARS then you may be aware of their solution PARS Insight. This is web based and pretty for end users and this solution I am hoping to pursuade our SLT to go for. Uniservity, there is a module out for that soon as they too are getting on the band wagon. However the data on the website will be 24 hours old as you have a choice to synchronise the data between SIMS and Uniservity daily, weekly or monthly. Uniservity will take a 3rd party report off SIMS and upload it to their systems. Since uniservity currently host on http and not https:// this is not the most secure system and we have no control of security. At least through County's Network we are covered by multiple layer security and our own firewall. Uniservity released a new module that already synchs with SIMS but this is just to link usernames to students to classess to years. You must have done this synch on the day your new SIMS data went live on Sept 1st. If you have not then you need to contact uniservity and ask them to re activate the process button so that you can re query the SIMS database to get your new intake. This is the first step of the SIMS link and must be done accurately to ensure that when they release the parent module they get the right student. You may have to manually match UPN's to Users in Uniservity depending on your data integrity. Good Luck. QPHS
