I went to PC world and bought 2GB but they sold me the wrong cards because they don't fit. They told me that I needed DDR cards but the manual says I need DDR2 ones. I hope the refund policy covers being sold the wrong item?!! The old card (256mb ones) lookd pretty similar but the central notch is in a very slightly different place on the DDR cards meaning they don't fit.

How much does W7 eat into the RAM though? The problem I have with this PC is that it originally ran on XP but the previous owner upgraded it to Vista and now it's REALLY slow! I've not heard much yet about W7, either good or bad.

My PC is second hand and has come with Windows Vista upgraded from XP. Is there any way that I can get the system back to running XP? The only disks I have with it are applications and drivers so I don't think that I even have an XP disk so with that in mind, what would be the easiest and cheapest method to get my system running XP again?

The specs are as follows: Pentium 4 Processor 520 with HT technology (2.80GHz, 800fsb, 1MB Cache) 40GB Serial ATA Hard Drive 512MB Dual Channel 400MHz Memory Other than that, I haven't installed any new programs and it has 14.7 GB free of 34.4 GB (as read from the C drive) Hope that helps?!! Dan

Hi, I was wondering if anybody could shed light on a problem that I have? Today I bought a Dell Dimension 5000 desktop PC from someone at work. It was running XP but has been upgraded to Vista. I got it home this evening and set it up, turned it on and tried to set it up to my liking, the only problem was that is seems to take forever to do the most basic tasks, I did a performance check and it gave a score of 1.0!! I'm not actually sure what this means but 1 seems quite a low score to me! Something can't be right here, it's a 2.8 Ghz Pentium 4 and from what I've heard it's a reasonably quick system but this is just so sluggish! What I would like to know is... 1) Can I roll it back to XP? 2) Do I have a major problem? 3) Am I missing some vital driver/software? and 4) where can I get what I need to sort this out (if applicable!)? And advice would be gratefully received but please keep it reasonably simple as I'm not particularly brilliant with computers! Many thanks in advance. Dan.
