  1. Hello, would be intersted to know the opinion of you regarding whether we should teach students what to watch out for re social engineering. is there a danger that we teach them the principles of social engineering they will go out and use the data they find maliciously.. a recent experiment conducted by me netted an amount of private information (in my experiment nothing really usable in the real world but i needed something that might have been), and if some of us, the trained experts? succumb to it, how do we teach our youngsters not too. thoughts guys..... butterscotch
  2. makes interesting reading, especially when you combine the data for what people have chosen to call themselves and what avatar picture they have chosen, and what their pets names are...however it appears that partners/parents/spouses and children have an impact on the household pet and not simply the geek answering the question.....i was of the opinion that us geeky types should have strange names, such as Gates, Jobs, Hawkings....plus the usual smatterings of deathound, fang etc...i am having to readjust my opinion, however i guess there may be others out there with stranger names/avatars..going to contact the great grumbledook and twozeroalpha, etc..... to all who have answered thank you it will allow me to: 1.answer the year 9 with a definitive answer ..... 2. prove to the year 9 that i am indeed a geek (by using a forum to ask the question) number crunching soon....cheers all butterscotch (3 legged rabbit - due to an unfortunate accident...perhaps i should have called him eric- eric the half a rabbit)
  3. sorry for this post, couldnt think how to resolve.... being a geek in charge of a load of year 9s, got into conversation about the pets names of the rich and famous..... some bright spark started an argument about the fact that geeks / techs etc..all have pets names that have some demonic connection.....now i dont have any pets, well one called butterscotch but i wasnt gonna offer that for slaughter (the comment not the rabbit).... if you have pets what are their names.....i will anonymise all answer and present the data to them..... i suppose i have to be prepared for the plethora of fangs, devils, and other morbid pets names... as many as you can please.....i suupose you could anser from the point of view that if you had a pet what would it be called... once again, for posting here, but if there is another collection of helpful guys like you all then tell me where they are... regards Butterscotch
  4. Hi, Hvae recently run on a de-timetabled day a GAMEMAKER club, this club introduces students to the process of game creation. you could either run the club as a structured learning session: review, plan, create, test, (loop) OR you could simply introduce them to the software, teach a few basics and let them go.... I recently ran several sessions to full classes, a little while in it was clear that the breakout style game i was making needed more blood and explosions....and off they went.. the site to visit: yoyogames.com. The software does work on vista, but occasionally stumbles (apparently) i have had no probs.... incidentally the PRO version (as in paid for ) costs $20 and gives you more bells and whistles, PLUS the ability to save standalone EXE files.... good luck Jason
