We are currently looking at implementing Kaviza, and have picked a local company to do the install/config for us. Now, the company are charging us a hefty enough fee for their own 1-year support package as it is. But, they have banged 'Citrix 1 Yr Platinum Support' onto the quote. When I called the company, I spoke to a Sales Support Exec, who told me that Citrix have made it mandatory to take their Platinum Support package with every install of Kaviza. Now this kinda sounds like a load of crap to me, and I cant help thinking this company are just trying to make an extra buck out of us. Has anyone else had an install of Kaviza done recently, or know anywhere that has.....and was support a requirement of the install? Thanks.

After alot of messing about, I finally discovered the problem! Simply put, the application I was trying to use (Scan2PDF), is simply incompatible with Xenapp. After alot of messing, I started to suspect that maybe the application itself was the problem (as opposed to the scanner drivers/citrix connection that I had been focusing on). So, after installing Paint Shop Pro (which I know is a supported application), I went to scan with PSP, and low and behold, it worked!!

Hi, We have a Citrix Xenapp 5 setup, and would like to be able to scan a document in on a local scanner, to a published application. When I run the application, the scanner will happily do a preview, but when I click Scan, it just hangs. I've checked to make sure I've enabled Twain Redirection in the Advanced Config, and been through all the usual bumph of making sure the twain_32.dll file is in the C:\Windows folder and users local home folder, but just not having any luck. Any ideas?

Personally, I think the new Dell Streak looks fantastic. Ok, so you wouldnt dare be seen in public, holding it up to your face. But the specs are great and has a nice big screen!! Only problem is that its only available on O2 at the mo. BUT, having spoken to a Dell representative, I hear its due out on Dell's website on the 29th. Hopefully for what they'll be charging, it should be unlocked.

Out of interest, I wouldnt mind checking this out as well.

Although this site (Intellectual Property Office - Permitted uses of copyright works) mentions certain exceptions, there is no mention of teaching staff distributing/making available musical works to pupils

I have recently found out at my school that the music teachers during a music lesson, will sometimes provide a copy of an mp3 (usually a top 40 chart song) to the kids for a lesson. Apparently, they split the file/add other music in/generally dissect this. BUT, im just doing some general maintenance/cleaning up on the main file server, and having done a search for .mp3 files, I have found loads in the kids personal folders. Obviously the kids are keeping (and possibly distributing) this music. So, are the teachers liable for distributing illegal copies of music? Having seen the teachers PC (and the amount of albums stored, and the way they are named/appear to have been ripped), im pretty sure the original albums are bought and legit. But, although I know you are allowed to make copies of music bought for personal use, I'm sure this doesnt extend to distribution to pupils. Opinions welcome?

Mmmm well I will only want the individual user subscription, as I will be paying for it myself. But yeah, 10 would be fine for my testing needs!!!

I have been thinking of personally buying myself a Technet Plus subscription. I would get the school to buy one but they are tighter than a duck's arse when it comes to buying anything us technicians need/want. Anyway, I was just wondering how the licence keys work. Are you issued a limited number of key(s) per product, or can you just generate an unlimited amount of keys as you need them?
