About neb1355

  1. No communication from our side too. Nothing ever seems to improve... whether it's Class Charts, Room Booking System or Parents Evening System.
  2. Redstor. Had no issues since we started using it around Spring 2023. Support has been great, pricing seems reasonable (definitely not the cheapest option though) and very easy to use. Haven't used Barracuda since the old LTO tape days but I always found their support to be abysmal.
  3. It's fine on our end, 2-3 technicians using it with no issue this morning (jinx?). Although... we have been getting constant performance issues with other TES products recently.
  4. Hi folks, Random problem we're having with some students in school; when saving PowerPoint files some users are having their files save name automatically changed to be prepended with 'My Documents'. For example, students with the file name 'My Board Game.pptx' are suddenly seeing the file name changed to 'My DocumentsMy Board Game.pptx'. It's seems to only be affecting PowerPoint, but it's sporadic and across all year groups. We still use roaming profiles and network home drives etc. but this seems to be a fairly recent thing (last 3-4 months). Has anyone seen something like this or got any suggestions? Thanks :-)
  5. I think a lot of us would be keen to see that! Haha.
  6. Down again for us... :-( At what stage should we be asking for a partial refund on our subscription?!
  7. We've stopped purchasing refurb laptops for staff in the last couple years, doesn't seem economically viable any more. Our current favorite has been the Acer TravelMate P2 with AMD Ryzen 5 Pro processor, 8GB RAM (can upgrade to 16GB), Full HD screen, WiFi6 and M.2 NVME Drives. We managed to get them for as low as £300 Ex VAT. They have typical plastic consumer build quality but so far they've been rock solid and spare parts are easy and cheap to get ahold of. Out of approximately 50 of them, we've only had to fix 2-3, all were from staff dropping them on to hard floors while walking around school (of course not using their provided laptop bags!).
  8. We have approximately 30 Acer TravelMate P215's here and not one has had a problem so far... touch wood! Honestly, ignoring the support/warranty issues for the price I can't find a device with better specs. £340 ex vat for 1080p IPS screens, Ryzen 3 Pro Processors, 8GB DD4 RAM, 256GB M.2 NVME and Wifi6

  10. Yes we're doing them as well. Been testing the program in advance and thought we had everything ironed out... until this morning! What a #''!@~!@~ show! :-(
  11. We use the free version of ManageEngine Servicedesk Plus. Free for up to 5 technicians. Have used Spiceworks and WebHelpDesk before. Servicedesk Plus appears to be leagues ahead of Spiceworks... can't imagine going back.
  12. ICT + Media Technician Salary: £18,870 | Hours: 1700 hours per annum, full time, all year round We require an experienced, flexible and pro-active person to assist with the support and maintenance of our ICT provision. The role will also require the support our Performing Arts department with their audio / visual requirements and performances. The successful applicant must possess an enthusiasm for ICT and media, have previous experience of ICT Support and an enthusiasm for media tech. Apple Mac skills would be an advantage. Flexible working hours are a pre-requisite for this role. To apply please visit the Great Torrington School website: http://gts.devon.sch.uk/vacancies/supportStaffVacancies.html
  13. Definitely think you should have a look at ManageEngine Service Desk Plus. Sounds like it ticks those boxes!
  14. Have used Spiceworks and Web Help Desk in the past, both have never been particularly great imo. Spiceworks is probably better but I've always found it a bit flakey, but then again it is free. We're currently using ManageEngine Service Desk Plus which is free for up to 5 Technicians. We have this split between 3 ICT Techies and 2 Caretakers, all tickets are coming in to the Helpdesk and filtered appropriately depending on which email address users contact etc. Fantastic so far, and I think it has everything you've asked for!
  15. All of our 1609 machines seem to be affected randomly by this. Looks like I'll need to push updating them to 1709 forward a bit.
