Thank you for your replies and help. We have the HP MSM760 controller.
-
Do you mean make the port the controller is connected to a trunk?
-
Thank you for your reply. When I tag port 9 the AP does not provision or connect to the controller. I can also ping from the controller to an IP on Vlan 999.

I am wanting to setup a VLAN on one network switch as per diagram attached. VLAN 999 has a dedicated DHCP server. I have setup the wireless network so all traffic from the BYOD SSID is tagged 999. If I connect using a cable into VLAN 999 I can ping all devices in that VLAN. If I connect using a wireless device I can’t ping. Can anyone help?

Hi, Thanks once again. It seems like that the PST files are being copied to the local machine for the user to access their email.... but... when the user logs off the PST stays on the local machine.

Hi, Thanks for your reply! The machine is an admin machine and is used by one person. We have now noticed that on a machine that is used by many teachers, this is doing the same thing of every user that logs on.

Hi, We have a machine complaining that it's running out of disk space. When investigating the situation we found that we have a high number of PST files in the outlook folder on the local machine. Any ideas why this is happening and how do i stop it? If I stop it will it cause problems? Thank you in advance!

Thank you to you all! Still not working. Have also done gpupdate /force and still not changing direction location. Like i said previously it works if the user is new to a machine. It just won't change on existing users!
-
Just to add... It's only on machines that the user have already logged on to. Thank you once again!

Hi Michael, Thank you for that. All of that is in place and still no joy! I am now trying the option re-direct everyone to the same location - \\servername\staffhome$\%username%

Hi, Can anyone help? I have recently installed a new file server and I am finding problems with folder redirection. All servers except the new file server is 2003... the new one is server 2008. I have set the Group Policy to point at the new location but for some reason the machines are not re-directing to this location. I have tried a GPUPDATE on the clients and have checked the permissions on the users directories. Thank you in advance!

Hi, Happy New Year to you all! I have Exchange 2003 and have been asked to setup email address for some of our students. Ideally i need to stop students being able to email staff, but possibly allow staff to email students (not essential). I would prefer if students could not see the contacts list for staff too! I need to know the best way to achieve this. I have heard some people creating a whole new mail store or would it be better to do this by creating a new GAL? Any suggestions?! Thank you in advance.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I was hoping to change the ACL's without having to take ownership. Going to try and add this script to a logon script... hoping that as the user has full access rights, that they should be able to change permissions. If not will give your suggestion a go. Thank you once again!

Hi, I am trying to use the CACLS.exe command to modify ACL's in my user directory. When I run the command it lists the directories, but, comes up after with access denied. Heres my script... cacls "D:\Userdata" /t /e /g "Administrators":F obviously replacing "d:\userdata" with the user data directory Any Ideas?!

Sorry another question... I have 110 Student Laptops with individual users for each laptop. I want to try and keep the laptop so they can save to the desktop (need to keep it as close to a home laptop). I need to be able to scan / check easily what they are saving on the laptop as the laptop get to go home some times etc... What would you suggest to be the best option?! Kindest Regards

Hi, Thank you for the info. We have laptops that pupils are allocated a laptop for them to use. My problem is that we allow pupils to save to there desktop and I need to be able to have to option to check what they are saving easily. Now thinking that roaming profiles may slow the network down to much! Any ideas?

Hi Mike, Do you mind telling me more about "super mandatory profiles"?!
-
Hi, At the moment I have folder re-direction setup for My Docs and wanting to setup roaming profiles. I have attempted to set them up and they work but... What would you recommend?! Set the profile to point at \\server\users directory\user and the home directory \\server\users directory\user\My Documents?? or the same as profile address. I have noticed the within each profile there are system files (which are hidden) and not sure if it's wise to allow pupils / staff to see that directory? What do you folks do?! Is there a recommended way to do this?! Thank you once again for your support.

Hi Ian, This is how i acheived it... there could be other ways, but it works for me!! The script needs to copy the WOLCMD.exe to the windows directory on the client machine and then the following ---- WOLCMD mac address Client IP ADDRESS Subnet Mask 7 Do this for each machine you wish to start up. Sorry for the red and black... trying to make it clear!! Hope this helps

Hi Ian, I have tried many different tools / utilites to perform this task and still probably the most flexible way I have found is to write a v. simple script and then use scheduled task to set what times you would like them to start up and shutdown. As you probably already know you need to ensure that your machines support wake on LAN and the shutdown.exe command build in to windows works well!
