the geriatic sites are the telecare system. This isnt too bad, and has a cost of £2.30 per week approximately. They take your call and pass through. Again, it will need phone lines in each wing. Anyone getting rid of an old analog phone system?

It is mainly for communal areas, and then just by the bed if sick, and cant get out of it. There is currently no cabling in place to support IP phones or a phone system, so would be nice if it could be wireless.

Hi This is for thos of you who work in boarding schools, or know what I am on about! I am looking to put in each wing of the boarding house a "device" which will contact the boarding parents in an emergency. Also, there needs to be cordless "devices" which a child can have by their bed/a pendant/wrist strap alarm if they are sick and need assistance without getting out of bed. The boarding house staff need to know which wing is making the call (in the case of prank callers"). Does this make sense to anyone? Can anybody recommend a firm that will do a "personal care" alarm style thing? Many thanks Shell

Hi Dave, I didnt create the profiles folder from those instructions. I already had mine on 2003 server, which I upgraded to 2008, and as the AD said that users profiles were stored on \\f+p\profiles\%USERNAME% it created new Windows 7 profiles with .V2 on the end automatically. Where are you storing your profiles and what permissions to do you have set on that folder? Are you storing home areas and profiles on the 2008 (to be dc promo-d) server? Say what you are trying to do, and what you have set and I will be another pair of eyes for you, as I am sure many others will be as well.

I know with Windows 7 and 2008 server, you no longer map drives to home areas as such. I believe the "best practice" now is to setup folder redirections for windows 7 machines (think you can still do with on 2003 server also) through group policy. Take a look at http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2008/06/30/automatic-creation-of-user-folders.aspx Maybe it might point you in the right direction. Hope it helps

Ok, I have changed OWA to SSL and 443 which seems to be running nicely. Now I am trying to access my moodle from outside of school and although I can get through to the login page, all my linkls are pointing to the internet IP address. Sorry, but I really dont understand the masquerading doc that moodle provide and would really like to get a solution in lay mans terms. Any suggestions?

All headers get pointed to the cisco box which then forwards all on to smoothwall. I do not see where I can specify which header goes where, but can specify where I can redirect the port to. So, if something comes in on port 80, it goes through to my owa server, if comes in on 591 it goes to moodle. Now, where do I change port 80 to 591 within moodle?

Sorry, I forgot to put that. I have a Cisco firewall which forwards traffic to Smoothwall. It is all done on port forwards, but I already have another app on port 80, hence why it is getting confused.

Hi Another question for you. I am trying to setup my moodle so that it is accessible over the internet. I have configured my firewalls up and am ready to go. The only problem is that I have another app that is respoding to web requests on port 80. I have tried to change the moodle port number but seem to be getting nowhere. Any ideas? Thanks Michelle

Sure did. I removed the Mowes installation and used another XAMPP package, It works a treat (well, almost!) right now.

Ok, I have made sure that i have absolutely nothing related to localhost in any of the .ini files. I have made sure that I have uncommented the php_ldap line BUT it is still not working! Any more ideas guys?

The way I see it is this: how much does it cost to replace a gearbox, and how much to replace brakes. Cheaper to replace brakes, so thats what I choose to use.

I dont have VS5 installed on either Moodle or client machine. I just installed the app on a client, guess it may have been embedded in there, open up Word (Office 2007), and it is there in the menu.

Hello, Hope someone can help me here. Completely new to Moodle and have very little experience with web setups. I have Moodle installed on Windows 2003 Server, with Apache, PHP5 and MySQL. I have three problems. Problem One: When trying to setup LDAP authentication, it says I need to enable the LDAP part in the config file, so I make that change, however it still tells me I need to make the changeafter I have done it and restarted the server several times. Problem two: When connecting to moodle/moodle (or IPaddress/moodle) from a client machine, it does not display any theme at all, and the content is just over to the left of the page. Problem three: When going to Moodle homepage from a client machine, it at least connects to the server, however when clicking login, it attempts to take me to the local page of 127.0.0.1, rather than the Moodle server IP address. We recycle all our kit. Covers you on the WEEE directive, makes you feel good cause it gets used/sent to a good cause (after they repair), and if you are lucky you can get some money back. I found that in the BIOS of new machines, I have to change the hard drive emulation to IDE or compatibale and NOT have it set to AHCI. Whenever I cant install, I change that and it works for me on these new HP models
