I have seen this problem on and off across different set ups in different locations, and across different versions of the Mac OS. The on consistency that I can see is Windows 2k8 server. The group memberships are empty in OD (whatever version of Mac OS and Server) with Windows 2k8. This was not the case with a Windows 2012 install I worked on recently. I am no Windows expert, so it may not be the Windows Server version but something in the configuration. I hope this helps

Hi Check NumLock. Check the Settings in System Preferences > Keyboard and Mouse. The System keyboard function is disabled if the Use F1-F12 ... box is ticked. In the keyboard Shortcuts pane check which shortcuts are actually configured. Quit System Preferences. Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist Log out and login again.

Hi Messing with the internals of an eMac is not for the faint hearted. Get a Firewire DVD drive compatiblity is much much better (FW being an Apple technology, I would recommend FW for all devices over USB, better continuous data through put). Also be aware that if you opt fro DVD-R of some kind not all iLife aps will write to it.

Hi If you get no video (black screen) and cannot here any noise from inside, drive spinning, it is probably a PSU issue. Repair/replace is probably not worth it. PS. The Blue and white G3 towers don't target disc or boot by FireWire.
