    Telephones

Siemens Gigaset are very good. Ive a set at home and they do VOIP as well as landline. Range seems to be good and the phones dont need to be beside a phone point as the charger for the phones is separate (depends on model you get).
  2. whilst the building may be fireproof the building certainly wont, and the safe may not be heat or waterproof. Even if the safe survives it could take weeks to get access to it and into it. Better to store the backups offsite somewhere safe. Paul

    Dell 2950s

Even more annoying that dell put blank plastic ones in when you dont order drives. Surely it would cost them no more to but proper ones in!! Kew Computers - IT Services and Computer Parts Supplier were selling them for £15 each I heard a while back. Paul
  4. Id avoid SSD for anything with high IO (SQL in this case). High IO in SQL Server is generally down to low memory, is there anyway you can increase the memory in the server? With enough memory SQL will hold asmuch as possible in memory and write out to disk as it can. Also could you go for faster SCSI drives? more smaller are better than fewer large drives. Paul
  5. Sounds like a drum issue, take the drum out and take a look if its marked in that area. Paul

    Backup Exec

Have a serious think if you need the SQL Agent. Its sometimes better to backup to disk then backup that backup (you dont need the backup exec sql agent to do that). Another option is to look at LiteSpeed for SQL Server - Backup Compression and Database Recovery its very nice and we have used it for afew years now. Paul
  7. Servers Alive, installs on windows no probs at all. Can monitor alot more than just the basic server, connected to a suitable mobile it can even txt you when something really bad happens. Can take along time to configure if you have alot of things to moitor, but well worth it.
