  1. Hi all I have been testing Windows 10 (from windows 7 upgrade) with Sever 2008 r2 and Windows 10 group policy settings imported. I have nearly got the client how I would like it to run apart from the default browser. I have set open with url, html etc in group policy to default to IE. But when I open a link on the client desktop I get "how do you want to open this file" window. Is there a way to totally set IE to default. I do not want to use EDGE. I'm sure there is registry settings to do this. Thanks for your help
  2. Hi I would if someone could help with this... I have a server 2008 R2, 7 staff windows 7 laptops and 60+ windows 7 pc for pupils and staff to use. The server is setup for redirect of documents, start menu and desktops. The pupils has a separate desktop, start menu redirections to the staff. The school would like some changes done. The staff laptop to be setup so the desktop and start menu are synced so they can be taken off site so they are the same as when they are at school. I have got the documents syncing fine which was the easy bit. Now here is the problem. The school does not want the staff to write to the desktop and start menu. I have been trying out a few things with robocopy, which seems to be working. I can get the desktop and start menu to copy to local folder on the laptop and when the laptop is off site the desktop/start menu are usable as i want. However the staff can write on the desktop, which i dont want. When the laptops are brought back into school, the robocop script runs and sny newly created files/folders are lost. As this server was setup for redirecting (pupils and staff) and not for syncing. Is there an easy way i can get want the school requires with out doing major changes to polices. Thanks for all your help Andrew
