I have several drivers missing from this machine using windows XP, i have been onto the lenovo support website and downloaded the required drivers....however, they do not work! i have telephoned lenovo and requested the correct drivers and they have assured me that the drivers on the website are correct...has anybody encountered this before? Even if not does anybody know of a third party source these drivers are available from?? Thanks in advance for those who can help with this. Tom

Thanks, but the page only offers support for the S37 and S41 models, not the S18, this is where im struggling as you can imagine

The omen in small horrible touchscreen\swivelscreen notebooks, almost impossible to replace parts in, and even harder to find drivers and support, especially when nobody seems to know anything about the calibrating software for them...
-
i dont suppose anybody knows how to calibrate a Vye S18 using windows XP? Thanks in advance. Tom

I am currently working on a sony vaio VGN laptop, the machine keeps shorting out after several seconds of being on, with or without battery. (even on power only). i have disconnected all drives and peripherals and it still continues to short. So i ordered a replacement motherboard, of course you would think this would be the only option left, however...the machine still shorts! anybody got any experience with this? or is it just me who has to suffer this omen? Thanks in advance for any help.

We have recently began using picasa, i was wondering if anybody knows if the tags that i create for each individual photo are written to the actual metadata of the jpeg file itself? or are they saved in a seperate database of picasa? Just for backup purposes. Thanks in advance. Tom

Im not an expert on this, in fact im far from it, but i have managed to do a little research for you. All i can seem to find is the IRQ error, is says cannot assign IRQ0 which is default for system timer. Have you tried checking the sytem settings on the server and the imaging machine to check this? ensure the corrospond with each other perhaps. Like i said, sorry if this is all false information, i personally dont know it that well. Just thought it may be worth looking at. Tom

dont suppose there is anychance you can tell me how to locate this lockdown editor? Thanks
-
OK, i know what im asking should not really be done, but the machines i have created are for pupil use, and they have absolutly no need to use terminal, or should i say, i dont want them to use terminal. Is there a way to "lock" terminal? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks, Tom

Then i apologise, i have tried quite a few of the distros before settling with mint, and i did not dislike any of them, of the non mint distros, i liked ubuntu, i much prefer the GNOME feel of things over KDE. PClinuxOS was ok but did not do it for me personally. Did not mean to "cause an argument" and the title should have read "Best OS?" my apologies for the typo.
-
"Best OS" was a question, not a statement, which is why i asked people to chip in thier ideas, my favorite is mint, but im not saying i know them all that well, so thanks to this post i now have a few more that i can try, i wasnt starting an argument, never even entered my mind, the only hostility in it was from you.
-
Wasnt saying better than any others, just my favorite in my personal opinion, im not arguing against the other distros at all! i like them all, but i love mint
-
i was only giving my opinion on how great Mint desktop is for those wondering on which distro to choose no need for hostilities.
-
That was meant to say WITHOUT! my apologies for those who thought i had gone slightly crazy for a while there
