From June 2013, Core i3 Gen2, 4Gb RAM, 22" LED HD screen. Replacing all our old P4 based desktops and std TFT screens has reduced our 'leccy consumption by 15Kw in the last 3 years.

Have a chat with Nviron, in Runcorn. Very, very experienced with Office 365 and Sharepoint, with some very large education customers. They have been very helpful to me.

Big massive vote here for PaperCut. If it doesn't meet one of your requirements now, you can request it for future releases, and/or work with the developers. There is a bit of a time difference here in the UK with the development team and 2nd line support in Australia, but I can live with it due to the sheer quality of the product and support. Also, the price and ongoing support is excellent.

We did all the work ourselves in-house, apart from configuration of SAN's etc. MS EES Agreement, Enterprise Clients, Server 2008R2 Hyper-V hosts, 2008R2 Native Domain, and System Centre Enterprise Suite to manage Win7 Enterprise clients. SAved us £40K plus on what RM wanted to charge for a move from CC3 to CC4. Now costs us approx £8K per year for MS EES agreement. Bare Metal to working desktop, with all applications installed, 40mins on a Core2Duo, 30minc Core i3. If you don't want to do it yourself, nViron in Runcorn are very good.

I use Mobotix Q24 Hemispherical dome cameras in the ICT suites. Very neat, record 4 days worth of footage to the internal SDHC card, and upload via FTP overnight to central server to reduce network traffic. Great touch is the ability to enable the VoIP phone in the camera, to remotely B#@*&ck idiots trashing the ICT Suites, when staff forget to lock them. :-)

I am currently looking into 'heat recovery' from our AC plants to povide hot water and heating for the rest of the College. Initial costs are £30K plus, but with a 5 to 10 year return. There are grants available from the Carbon Trust, but I still have to kget past the SMT. I am also looking into replacing the Data centre AC with a rear door heat exchanger from a company called Aquacooling.co.uk.
