I've used this app to achieve something similar, but I have a feeling it may not work for what you want - definitely worth a try. Take a look at SharpKeys - SharpKeys - Home Launch the App, click Add, then on the left-hand side click on Type Key and press the key combination you want to 'trap'. On the right-hand side you would probably choose 'Turn Off'. Write the Registry, reboot and see if that has stopped it. For reference, and easy deployment, the registry settings are stored in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout] "Scancode Map"

Bizarrely, the smb1 (mrxsmb10) driver/service was started on an updated Window 10 system; I imagine it would prefer SMB2+ but I ran the script on that and it hasn't caused any problems so far. Rebooted and mapped drives without a problem...

Mark I've had issues myself regarding disabling SMB1 - not least with a Ricoh MFP that will need changing over to FTP to restore scanning functionality. Had a real problem with one of my servers today, after I made the recommended changes (MS article). It came down to a dependency failure with the lanmanserver - it was still looking for mrxsmb10. Here's what I had to run in order to get the server, and workstations, playing nicely again. By explicitly creating a GPO to DELETE these registry keys Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (for both) Key Path: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings (for both) ProxyEnable ProxyServer Notice they are in the HKLM local machine tree, rather than the current user HKCU. I believe that settings in HKLM may override the current users settings

How are you setting your proxy? Computer or User? If User, which is how apply it, I previously ran a GP to remove any Computer specified proxy, which seem to clear up a few problems I had. Which method are you using? Script, Registry, Plain IE Proxy setting..

By the way, I'm going with Windows 10 EDU edition, and using these scripts to disable the junk. What were your reasons for using LTSB?

@Rob414 I'm in the testing period too, and I've been thinking about using the same method, even though I know it isn't best practice. However, if you can step back to the stage of setting up the default user, but run this brilliant app first - ShutUp10 (https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10), pretty much ticking everything. Then copy the profile to the default user. See if you notice a difference? I also disable the Windows Defender, as I've noticed it being a 'pickle' when it comes to resource usage....

Yhttech, what you are describing seems the normal, by design, behaviour for files that are downloaded; either by email or browser. There are perhaps a number of ways to achieve what you want, but it may be worth considering the possible repercussions - of not marking downloaded files as 'insecure'. I did a quick search and this came up... Group Policy: User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Attachment Manager Enable: Do not preserve zone information in file attachments

It's safe to say that most touch-panels with built-in audio will never be as good as a good quality, dedicated amp with good speakers. You can 'adjust' the sound profile to your preference on some panels, for example to increase bass, but you'd really need louder speakers (20w upwards). As TechMoo states, a decent soundbar is a much better option, they are way better than the built-in speakers, fit neatly underneath, and can cost under £ 100.

Also, be sure that you get the full 5-year warranty as an education establishment. Even SMART documentation keeps suggesting 2 years, but I think edu get 5 - check with the supplier!

Hi Jmak I have seen the 4065 boards in action, and although I was originally not a fan of SMART, these boards seems pretty good and stable. I've also used and seen the Promethean boards, which I quite like. However, in answer to your question, here are some of the differences I have found - assuming you will be purchasing 6065-v2 ?? Response time: 6.5ms (4065) vs 8ms (6065) lower is better Brightness cd/m2: 300 (4065) vs 338 (6065) higher is better Contrast ratio: 4000:1 (4065) vs 1200:1 (6065) higher is better You may also want to keep in mind that displaying non-4K content on a 4K screen can, depending on the PC and screen technology, may leave you with a poor quality image - I've definitely seen this on a non-interactive panel. However, if the 6065 panel doesn't suffer from such problems, although you don't have much 4K content now it is always good to consider long term, bearing in mind you want this panel to last 8+ years. On the note about DViT vs infrared, I can only imagine that infrared is better, since the SMART boards with the DViT (camera sensors) technology that I have seen, have all caused problems along the way - even a dusty sensor ledge can knock out the calibration... EDIT: I think both of those boards have 8 point multi-touch, but I believe you only benefit from within the SMART software - I may be wrong.

Driver issue?? If you are able to faithfully reproduce the STOP error, run msconfig and on the Services and Startup tabs, disable anything not essential for the purposes of troubleshooting. If after this selective startup the device no longer blue screens, then it is a matter of narrowing down which driver/app is triggering this. If it still blue screens, I'd first run memtest to check the memory - a couple of hours.... If memtest doesn't pick up any errors, then next place I'd look is the drivers that are loaded on boot/startup - tricky to narrow that down, but there are some useful tools out there - Autoruns from Sysinternals.

Hmmm, is there a piece of software on your this PC that is asserting itself in a proxy fashion? How would you tell? Well, you could use something like CPorts from Nirsoft and look at what software is listening in on port 80, or something along those lines. You could also force a 'clean' boot on the PC - which is to say, stopping all non-essential, non-MS services and apps at startup (msconfig may help). If after a clean boot the policy you want stays in place and is not overwritten, then it surely must be something installed on the PC.

Any joy with this issue? I thought I replied, earlier this morning through the mobile app, but it hasn't registered. In my reply I wondered if you had a Windows PE usb/cd you could boot from and manipulate the OS files & registry. However, this in itself adds risks.

Does it give you the option to boot from Last Known Good Configuration, because if it does then that should at least get you back into Windows, but if it doesn't then it isn't as simple as changing a service startup type. If the driver has replaced a previously good driver then it might be quicker to restore from a good backup - unless the impact is too great?!? What roles does this server have? DC, DNS, DHCP... ? Is this your only server? When was the last time this server was backed up?

Air flow & rpm certainly matter, but it depends on the need. For example, some of the more 'silent' fans have an airflow around 3 CFM, whereas that Sunon seems to have a higher airflow rate of 10, and therefore has a higher RPM (around 6K), and would obviously make a lot more noise. But does it really need to be that high?? How hot does it get in and around that unit? Although, saying that, if it doesn't get that hot, that may be because of these fans... Leaving the noise aside, since that isn't so important in a comms cabinet, you'd want to look for a high CFM & RPM. I believe the connector is a 3-pin, judging by the photo, which usually means that it is able to be monitored, and can therefore ramp the speed up/down, depending on the demand. If you were concerned that the switch won't work that way, I'd aim to get a direct replacement; or just take a punt and buy a couple of good ones, for less than a tenner. If it doesn't work, you've only spent £ 10 on two fans.

I'm not at my console to double check those, but can you spot any suspects or differences between the two lists of cports? How about wmi service related?

Apologies, typo of 2016 R2, I meant 2012 R2 :-) I'm thinking though that the way Windows 10 communicates with those HP servers is possibly being disrupted by the HP server software. Can you run cports (nirsoft) to see what ports are being listened to on the working Dell, versus the non-working HP server. I don't see how the 10 client could communicate with one server, but not another, unless there is something different about the two servers.
