  1. As DaveP we use this Secure Copy. Very powerful solution. It keeps all ntfs permissions, shares and share permissions intact while copying. P.S. The name of this company now is Scriptlogic. So the web site is: http://www.scriptlogic.com
  2. Really strange situation. We have no any problems with desktop authority start. Accordingly - all settings are always apply correctly.
  3. Desktop Authority can do this. You don't need to go to each machine - you can perform all operations from one console.
  4. Last time when we were migrating data from our old to new hard drive we used Secure Copy from Scriptlogic. (scriptlogic.com) It's a very good alternative to robocopy, xcopy or even ghosting. The main advatages that this tool has friendly graphical interface - you don't need to learn different command line keys and it can retain not only permissions but even can recreate shares with their permissions also.
  5. Of course, disabling in bios is not the way to go. What about usb mice and keyboards? You can handle this with special protection tools. Another approach is to use a desktop management utility, for example Desktop Authority. As far as I know, this tool contains a usb security option for restricting the use of usb storage devices and and any communication devices.

For transfering data between servers you can use Secure Copy. Copying with permissions & security settings, migrating shares, users & local groups - it's the most important features in this tool & the most important things in server migration. So, I hope this helps. Secure Copy is avialable from: http://www.scriptlogic.com/products/securecopy
