  1. First thing you should do is run 'vssadmin list writers' from cmd prompt and check for errors. A reboot of the server is usually the easiest fix I've come across for vss writer issues in the past.
  2. How much memory does the PC have and is it limited to one type of PC? I've had problems in the past trying to get by on 256MB machines uploading images then downloading, would not work unless I added another 256MB. MS say minimum is 512MB for a client. (I think the machines I was using at the time had shared video mem as well so not exactly 512MB...) Cant remember what the error message was, although it was completely unrelated to the actual issue!!
  3. Might be worth bearing this in mind: (From the Storage Team @ MS) First problem if not using a certified device my be non-working offline files for Vista clients.
