So I can confirm this fix works on versions PRO EDU ENT. Just a GPO with the updated registry fixes takes care of it. Painful to get to this point as I came across another post in spiceworks describing the same issue and resolved with a driver update from INTEL - so I went the same route and got driver updates etc etc.. Very interesting that this one is not fixed by Microsoft - I would imagine it's a pretty big issue for schools/enterprise!!

Can confirm that those two registry keys worked for me, in addition to having all the slow link detection etc disabled. Thanks a bunch, been stuck on this one for a while!!

we have been running around 250 thin clients for the past 5 years and are very happy!! we use the HP T5530 / T5510 model over microsoft RDP into a 2003 terminal server. works great for students and staff alike!

Hello saw the shout out in the PC World magazine this week - great idea for a site !!! I am network administrator of tauranga girls college, a windows 2003 based site. I work with a technician and other great staff to give this school the best ICT setup that we can afford! We are a laptop for teachers school, and students operate mostly on thin clients. Our infrastructure is based around cost saving methods, while providing quality computer access to the most amount of students. We have invested heavily in methods to integrate ICT into the via laptops and mounted speakers/projectors. Glad to be here - hope we can share some good ideas!! cheers, Armand
