Actions would be the way to go if you're developing something for yourself. However, there are hundreds of free Actions created by others you can find on the web. What sort of aged look are you going for?

I took it as a given that the OP had a voip system. While it may be a hassle to set up the system initially, giving each member of staff their own login does have advantages. It's often (but not always) easier to locate a teacher by dialling their number rather than the number of the room to which the phone is allocated. They can also pick up their voicemail from any phone they're logged in to. No one can make an outside call from a phone which is logged in to it's own extension number rather than that of a teacher. External callers can contact me by calling the school and then adding my extension number (if they know it) without having to trouble the switchboard. If someone calls their son/daughter in Australia from an internal phone and is on the phone for an hour we'll know who's extension it came from and therefore who to bill. Though the flaw in this is that some staff don't log off from their phones and an unscrupulous person could use this to their advantage, and it also means that when someone calls you, the name of the person who is logged in to that phone appears on your screen, but it's not always that person calling you. But that's human beings for you.

We have a similar set up, BUT each teacher has their own phone login so that wherever they go in school they simply login to the phone in that room, which automatically logs them off from any other phone they were logged into. They shouildn't have to carry the unit around with them.

I haven't had a chance to look through it all (and some of what I have seen is a bit cheesy), but what I have seen seems to explain Office 2007 (or at least the Word part of it) quite well. You have to register, but no one has bugged me yet (3-4 weeks later) powdarrmonkey's right, you've got to carry the staff with you.

Keep every receipt, from the obvious, such as petrol to the not so obvious, such as did you have to buy a sandwich for lunch? It's a legitimate expense to claim against your income tax. Likewise any tools you have to buy you can set against tax. In my experience registering for vat is a last resort, not because I'm suggesting you do anything illegal, but because there's such a mountain of paperwork to get through (there was in my day at least) you'll end up spending almost as much time on your vat receipts as actually earning money. If you get a receipt for something and the receipt doesn't specify what you purchased (very rare these days, I know) write on it what it was for asap. And if you can afford it hire an accountant. If you go into the folder which contains the images used in the slideshow (I can't remember which one it is at the moment but a little digging should locate it) you'll see, alongside the images, some notepad files called 1, 2, 3 etc and these correlate to the images in the slideshow. If you add another image create another notepad file with the text you want to show, and save them with the next number available.

We've been using it for a couple of months or so and its been well received by parents. Cheap to set up and run (we already use Bromcom for attendance on top of SIMS). As Bromcom have done most of the work for us I don't know quite how difficult it has been to set up, but they had it operational within about 48 hours.
