Hmm, as far as I know it will always complain about the internal computer DNS name because there isn't really an easy way to install the certificate on the internal machine?

My opinions... NEVER on a DC. Plus it requires obviously an MSSQL backend (or the Windows Internal DB). MSSQL in my experience, at least for WSUS, can become a memory hog.

What makes you think it's the internal/external name mismatch? With the error message, which name is it complaining about? The RD Gateway server, or the internal PC you are trying to RDP to through the RD Gateway server? I believe there are a few places you need to ensure the RD Gateway name is set correctly in the MSC snap in, and it eventually then stops moaning (mostly) about the SSL naming etc. But you're sadly never truly rid of the warnings - I still get a yellow warning, and I also still get warnings about internal computers not having any certificate installed.

Xenserver considered superior to VM ESX then?

I have this exact server and mine runs VMWare ESX 3.5i with no sweat whatsoever. It's only a dual chip, dual core 2GHZ Xeon with 2GB RAM, but I have it running 3 VMs of Server 2003 at the moment with no bother what so ever... I can't speak for Xenserver as I don't use it

Ahh this is what I've done...kinda. I found an old PowerEdge 2600 on eBay last week... £59, got my dad to pick it up on a pallet from London for me (he's in that industry so got "family rates" )... It's a tidy little machine for the money, 2x2GHz Xeons, 2GB RAM, 3x36GB SCSIs and a Win 2000 Adv Server COA stuck to the side I love it, it looks so cute in my cupboard running ESX 3.5i, and I'm in the process of buying more HDD and RAM for it If it's old servers you're looking at to tinker with, have a look for the user "stuffusell" on eBay. That's where I got mine, and to be fair their service is fantastic

Well I'm sure some people do, but having looked through a couple of pages of this deployment forum and seeing how many people are having Ghost/WDS/RIS related woes, I couldn't help but think - have you tried PING? I had a quick look but couldn't see any stickies related to it. In a nutshell it stands for "Partimage Is Not Ghost" (PING), and is the GNU/Linux answer to Ghost, except its free and I find it much more reliable and effective. Just to give a quick overview of how it works, naturally you'd sysprep your image template, and then you can either boot from a PING cd (only a 30MB ISO), or setup a USB boot pen (simple to do and I even made a script that will do it for you - contact me for details), or a TFTPD32 PXE server (dead simple to set up). Then you can image from a partition to file, partition to an ordinary network share if you have an image server etc. In my environment, images are around 3-5GB in size, and all in all it takes about 15 minutes to make an image and about 10 or less to restore one. Feel free to post any comments you have here, or if you would like to know more, I can provide information about it. I know I may have jumped the gun here as some people already use it but...oh well

Hmm interesting topic. Something like this could be reasonably easy to code. I recently made something which parsed some horribly obfuscated HTML from a UK haulage companies tracking system and returned the interesting bits of information as a PHP array. I may tackle something like this when I get some free time... if I do I'll keep you posted!

No way it's schoomie - that's just who they want you to believe as they wanted him to race his FXX round the test track. My money is on Ben Collins. Has anyone seen that shot of The Stig's eyes through the helmet, caught out in a photo shoot? Definitely not Shoe-makers eyes. Edit: Well of course there's a plethora of Stigs, but I'd say Ben Collins does all the "test track" and hot lap time stuff, because being a touring car driver, he'll be most suited to that sort of driving with road cars.

Yeah that goes without saying. Wouldn't device registration etc play hell with XP clients logging onto the domain? E.g. all traffic is blocked until it's registered through the web page. Can it just be logged on as an admin and registered once for that MAC address?

I created a site with Joomla and the advice I have is to create the static content first (XHTML/CSS) as a mockup for the site, then drop in the Joomla PHP to make it dynamic. With regards to streaming media, have a look at Flowplayer.org which provides very simple video embedding. Someone else may have a better idea for Joomla specific streaming media though.

Cheers Geoff - I completely missed that! My next question would be - currently we are in a NAC free environment, so if I configure PF, will there be chaos as every device on the network tries to register/authenticate itself? Or can I just allow everything as normal except for joining wireless clients? Many thanks
