laptop upgraded from win 8 to win 10 fully updated now chrome will now work. existing chrome removed from the machine used window edge to reload the software but still no response. any ideas? Andrew

How do you download/install .net framework 4 in admin mode. the only version will use a setup.exe to run and then it it will expend the file(s) into temp folder. In past I used setup.exe /a when installing office is there easier to do the work? Andrew

Hello We have a Dell Latitude D531 running XP-Pro SP3, the teacher reported that the machine would not connect to the Internet. When I checked that McAfee would not work, I installed Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware ran it and found a number or Trojans. I booked machine if you try to run Macfee it will fail with following message - "dxce01.sys - Address EC3C1C89 base at EC3B0000, DateStamp 454a39be" It is noted that the virus check will work in Safe Mode! Any help would be apreciated Andrew

To all In the past the school have set up the home folders in the follow was Year Group (09Intake) then Individual Folders for each student (10xxusernamexx) Year Group Share is set as: Year Group = Change + Read Every One = Full Admin = Full Year Group Security is set as Year Group = M,R&E,L,R & W Staff (Teachers) = R&E,L,R & W Admin = Full Unfortunately since we bought some new higher spec we have a problem – In a number of cases a pupil does not get the correct home instead will see all folders in the group! It seems that the only solve the problem is to set level at the individual folder with Full option. Two questions 1. Does any have a easy batch/vbs script to run against the existing folders. 2. Why the problem – I was working now it does not. Andrew

Does know anythink about Firmware upgrade on the above switch. Yesterday I tried to upgrade the firmware using Hyper Terminal - I check contections to the switch and using command line "Upgrade [ip address] BRS01_00_07 bootcode" I started to load the file but each time it timedout with a message that upgrade had failed! Yes It all went wrong when I tried to send a message to VLE postbox, I have confirmed the POP and SMTP settings but I still cannot send (recieving in OK). I use my school email to send and recieve, I think that when the VLE mail had failed I corrupted something in my Outlook! Andrew

Can someone help me? My outlook is working however when I try to send/receive messages it is showing that there a number of messages to send! I need to clear the fault; I have used SCANPST.EXE but the problem is still there. Is there a way of exporting all messages (including attachments), contacts and sent messages to another file(s) and import them back? Andrew

Last year the school was updated now we have a 3Com Baseline Switch 2924-SFP Plus as the back bone and a number of Baseline 2226 Plus. Recently (or it may be older) there were a number of problems relating to Login, Profiles etc. When I have checked the switches I fould the following error: "STP TOPOLOGY UNSTALBLE" In each case the fault seems relate to login time (about 9.00) each day. I have little experience of programming of VB or Outlook macros however I need to create the following: A method to send bulk emails to parents within the school (this would include letters home for events, term newsletter etc. I can create either a mail list in Outlook or using the same info in an xls spreadsheet. All email must be sent in Bcc address, Subject of the letter, in the main part of the mail there must be a salutation, one or two line of text and the an attachment in pbf format. Does anyone have the right method or script? Andrew

We have a Win2003 server and XP-Pro clients Both the Pupils and Staff have mandatory profiles and restricted GP. Occasionally the GP does not work and results a Folder Redirection (ID 112 and 1085) when it happens both the redirection of “My Documents” fails (resulting the machine displays my (admin) folder! I have also noted that the standard Login Script also failed – none of the mappings has worked? Is the failure due to the server software or is it related to the network is self? If so what is the best approach the issue and how to check what is happening? Andrew Hankiewicz
