  1. Thank you, Tom, for this thread. I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I’d appreciate any advice. I work as an IT officer. About one and a half years ago, we implemented iSAMS at our school. We have around 1,000 students, and for primary students it’s mainly used for registration and report generation. For secondary students, it’s more complex due to multiple subjects and term-based report requirements. Currently, data management is handled by another school, but my manager has asked if I’d be ready to take over iSAMS data management independently after the next academic year. They are planning to hire a data manager, but I’d like to prepare myself for the role. While I have general IT experience, I’ve never worked in data management or advanced Excel functions like filtering and analysis. We are a team of two IT officers, and I’m planning to take full responsibility for data management. Could you recommend the best way to go from a beginner to mastering data management in iSAMS and Excel? Are there additional tools or skills I should learn to handle school data effectively? Thank you in advance for your guidance!
  2. I've been working on this issue all night. We have a program at our school where we need to send a link to parents, allowing them to fill out a form and upload documents. However, the 'file upload' option in Microsoft Forms is grayed out when I try to send the link externally. The text-based part of the form works fine, but the principal specifically wants to use Microsoft Forms to link with parents. The problem seems to be that the file upload feature only works within the organization. Is there any way to manage this? Ideally, we need a Microsoft Form that allows parents to upload documents related to their child, with each submission going into a separate folder on SharePoint, one folder per sender. Has anyone handled this before or found a workaround?

  5. At our school, we have 20 ( iMac21,1) devices, and I'm exhausted from fixing daily issues caused by students. They are constantly doing things like removing icons and resetting passwords. Whenever I need to install software, I have to do it manually on each machine. I’ve already created a student user account, but the students are still managing to remove icons and make changes. The teachers requested that the iMacs not have passwords, so I set them up without passwords. Is there any way I can use one iMac as a server to control all the other iMacs? Also, how can I restrict users so they can only browse certain sites (no YouTube or TikTok), prevent them from changing settings, and disable their ability to modify files or icons? They should only be able to access the desktop folder and download files.

  8. Automate Wi-Fi Connection via Group Policy: Open the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) on your domain controller. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies. Create a new policy or edit an existing one. In the Preferred Networks tab, add the school's Wi-Fi network and configure it to connect automatically.
  9. When sharing video links through iSAMS for parent emails, I encounter the same error message whether it's from OneDrive, YouTube, or Google Drive. Please see the attached error link for your reference. Your assistance and comments would be greatly appreciated.
