'Moodle FROM sims (auto creating groups/enrolments etc).' I'm after something like this and then maybe see what else I can get out of SIMS.

There are a few commerical tools that estract data from SIMS using SIF, ZiLink and a few others. Also I know there are a few bespoke products that use a bit of the SIF to get the data but have custom code to do other things. I have found these products to be rather over priced for what I am after. Our Primary schools would not be able to afford the circa 1k a year for the product and I don't think they can justify it. We also have a central SIMS learning Gateway setup here and the price to primaries for this is cheap (for Capita). I was hoping to either create my own or buy in an agent to develop. I'm not sure where to start with a SIF agent so any help would be great. Cheers

To stratisphere I'm just wonering how far long you got with creating your own SIF agent. We are looking for SIMS.net - SIF - Moodle and am wanting to create my own SIF to access the SIMS. Cheers

We run Moodle for all our Primary schools in Stockport. It works well but only with the support of myself and our advisor. The schools that use the Moodle well are ones where the SLT and/or governors have got behind it, but I would say this is the same for any type of Learning Platform. With a nice theme, training and some tech support a Moodle can be just as effective as any other Learning Platform. There are a few companys out there that can help you with this we use Synergy Learning for our top level support but also got some themes and training from them as well. if you need any help or a point in the right direct drop me a message. Hi GeekChick I'm from Stockport LEA, we use Moodle for all our primary schools. Although the system can be sometimes a little hard to understand, once the teachers have grasped the basics its ok. We have about 110 moodle with schools at lots of different stages and now with the prospect of so many funding cuts moodle seems like a good choice as we have everything internal with only a small support contact with a moodle partner. Having checked the enrol.php file it might have something to do with roles. Do you still have the old moodle running. If so copy the enrol.php. Otherwise did you have another type of enrolment turned on. Only other thing I can think of it that there was another type of role created on the old version i.e. student2 and that it is trying to apply the settings to the user but can't find it. Hope this helps

I think as long as your 'Maximum runtime is until complete then just leave it doing it.

JudyB is correct we do use Moodle for all Primary schools. Rolling VLE's in to Primarys is a big task and alot harder than I expected. We are just about to start a trial with 2simple online tools which hopefully will assist in the the roll out. Question to Judy 'Which college may I ask? Also do you know about the 14-19 central Moodle which has been setup?' If anyone has any questions about using VLE's in Primary schools or Moodle please don't hesitate to contact me Cheers

Anyone staying at Kensington Close Hotel, I'm there Thursday night?

To All We run quite a few VM's for our Moodles here, each VM is 10gig. However the 14-19 diploma VM is now at 9gig and I need to make the VM bigger. I can change the size of the disk space on the VM but the OS doesn't reconise it has more space. It is running linux OS with Moodle. Can anyone point me in the right direction to increase the disk space. Thank you
