[only a year late to the party] Agree with ERCO/Psydii comments. I tech (one man band everything) in a very large primary. Space on constrained laptops - there's a perennial issue. Have circa 230 Acer B311, Dell3190, Lenovo100e. Almost all on 64Gb (a very small number of Dell have 128GB). Mostly from 2019 purchases and 2020/21 Covid allocations. Dells very robust as previously noted and they have excellent power port, solid, large and easy for kids to plug in. Other makes can be a bit of a tiny pin, skinny tangled cable lottery. We received 20 Covid geobooks - nasty for so many reasons - they pretty much died early. But of course one staff member loves hers so I use remainders for spares - been through remarkably many screens, she supports some robust SEN pupils, I digress. ====== Initially all W10 now W11-25H2 To keep (them) useful I go very hands on through the lot every six months. Scripts to delete all profiles and junk numerous apps (about 3Gb) and clean out lots of dross. Disk cleaner (cleanmgr), ccleaner customised to remove what I wanted and patchcleaner useful but now less so. Where needed, diskpart to remove recovery partition worth another 500 to 800Mb useful. After ministrations expect to have 19-23GB free (variable)...which is headroom for about 6 months! Painting Forth bridge allegory applies. All have Office 2021 LTSC, Clicker, Audacity, Crumble, full 2Simple suite minus videos (ugh), Chrome. That's it. Use a WSUS (on SVR2025) to tightly control updates. These "old" covid era little laptops just keep going. I cannot justify replacements when they work and still give 3-4h battery life. Maybe you rich folk can "make space" with money but here in the bottom end keeping stuff usable for as long as possible is paramount. Max

For info DS1621+ active backup for google workspace details: 140 live staff accounts (hourly, used to be continuous which was circa 15mins but seemed overkill). 360 suspended staff accounts (nightly) 610 live pupil accounts (nightly) 770Gb email 720Gb drive 100Mb contacts 8Gb calendar so 1.5Tb total as reported in console. No mention of compression or depuplication savings (which are stated for Active Backup for Business). free (as Synology addon package) requires some occasional handholding but works very well and have used portal to restore/inspect "lost/deleted" items for staff. 6x2B drives SHR 2 drive tolerant 7TB total considering getting bigger drives and more RAM, seemed enough 5yrs ago but now...

Shredder successfully managed kept all output in plastic bag so mess minimal. Cleaned the rotating jaws carefully afterwards as much placcy binding in the marsh there. Some mess created, pity. Did overheat 3 times, don't think it appreciated my offering. Took circa 2h total but it gave me an excuse to prejudicially add in some extra shredding for old times sake. Feel so much better. The hacksaw tape method sounds fun. Will incorporate into my next morning exercise routine.

Thanks for link, interesting and very useful if I was doing this industrially. Get through 1-2 magicard spools a year so hard to justify. I wonder if I can put those ancient office archive LTX Ultrium tapes through as well, tee hee. The pdf leaflet suggests min 60mm width, pity.

This very problem. Shredding works. Sit spool on top and it just rotates (shredder is loud and takes about 15mins but it will get it done eventually). Tape paper into feed slot to fool auto stop mechanism.
