Hi I've had an email from our Finance team to say that all of the .txt files that they use within FMS have been converted by Windows to .xml files, which is causing an issue as the supplier that they use only sends and receives in .txt files. I've been told that the conversion has messed the formatting and is rendering these files essentially useless. I've tried converting the files to .txt manually but they don't fix the formatting issue. The main issues I am having is that a) having not seen what the files looked like previously (and all of the files were converted) I can't tell what the formatting is supposed to look like and b) there is no sign that the windows server (where the files are stored) has modified them in the slightest as none of them have modification dates for when this happened (some of them haven't been opened since 2019). Is there any way to convert these files back to where they were or are these files forever lost?

Can't ping 8.8.8.8, domain controller is on the same network, not yet looked at the IP info, SIMS is local. I've also tried flushing the dns, checking windows defender to see if thats causing any issues (not that we use it for our firewall). I'm fairly sure its to do with them computer specifically as the other machines in the room are all connecting just fine to the internet. It's just annoying as this specific one is the only one that uses SIMs.

We've recently had a powercut in the local area and been having numerous issues rising from it. Most have been fixed, however, one of the desktops is now refusing to connect to the internet. It connects to our domain server just fine through the ethernet ports and we can log into it using our staff and pupil accounts, however trying to open sims, the internet or anything wider than our domain brings up an ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED. Just about to try and clear the cache and see if that works (will update if it does) but I'm not sure thats going to fix it.

Not sure if people here will know but its worth a shot. We are using Concept2 Rowing machines in school (PM4 model), we want to do races within lessons with them and have them display on the board through the PC. I am aware that you can connect multiple Rowers together using RJ45 cables and that you can connect a single rower to the pc via a USB-A - USB-B cable. Rather than having to buy a USB hub to support all of the usbs I would need. Is it possible to connect the rowers together with the RJ45s and then connect the closest one to the PC and have them all feed into the PC using the USB cable? Or is there another way to connect them all to the PC only using one usb port. Thanks

Just had a look, seems to be that windows thinks it was installed. The first time I tried this today, the event viewer says that it was installed successfully within a second of me starting the installation and then the next event is saying that there is a software restriction put on my area of the C drive by the admin (the previous one I'm assuming as I am currently the admin). I'm assuming this is what is stopping it. Does this mean I'll have to deploy it through CC4 if I want to use it?

I've been trying to reinstall Minecraft Education since we got our new computers. We had it up and running perfectly previously but that happened before I joined. Regardless of which computer I try to install it on, it always gets stuck at the "Preparing Files for Removal..." stage. I've searched around but there are no instances or files relating to MC on our system to remove. It might be that something is blocking it from running the installer but I'm not sure what as I've downloaded apps straight to the computer and they installed and run fine without any issue. Not sure if it changes anything but our network runs off CC4.

Hi As we are moving from CC4 my head has asked me if there are any other systems out there like CC4 that we can buy into and to have a look into them before we commit to a vanilla system. I've mentioned to them that the Vanilla system would be the better solution as it can do all of the things that we want it to do, but they're insistent on knowing the other options out there (and knowing lets me point out why the vanilla would be better). I've had a look on Google but I'm not sure what I'm finding is similar enough to what we had with CC4. Is there any other server managment software like CC4 out there?

Currently our plans our: Replace the servers (They need replacing regardless) Hardware should all be staying the same Happy to stay with our current domain to ease the workload a bit There are still a number of pieces of RM hardware/software we use around the site, whilst the hardware will still work I'm not sure if software that was packaged by RM will cease to function. Do you have recommendation for software that you used to help with, any kind of User migration/deployment software? This project was my predecessor's idea and convinced SLT before they left and hasn't given me any pointers on what they had in mind/started on already.

Hi Our school is currently in the planning process of removing CC4 and migrating to a Vanilla network, this is something that is entirely new to me and so I'm nervous about mucking it up. I've seen on other posts about a CC4 removal service that RM offers but can't find any mention of it elsewhere. Has anyone had experience of this service and/or know if it is still running. Also as I've mentioned this is the first time I've done something like this, is there a good list of things to think about when mapping and planning out this project. I think I've got the general gist of things to do but I just want to make sure that I'm on the right track. Thanks
