A5 Student Use Benefits are free, you get 40 free per faculty licence. It's our default recommendation to schools, and many use it. It's easier to administer and as you say, allows that deeper integration with 365, azure and in particular Defender

It’s within the DFE standards now that schools require a backup line - as not having access to things like cloud MIS or data could be considered a safeguarding risk.
