Does anyone know of a more efficient way to manage dell dock firmware. It’s an absolute nightmare doing in one at a time and stupid things every 1 in 5 dock is failing the firmware update We updating firmware from d038 to d039 we are suffering a number of issues with connectivity with various aging projectors/tv attached and sound issues

Depending on the relationship with reseller it maybe they have partnership access. Probably unlikely if all they were was the reseller but you never know. As an msp we are the reseller and admin of the tenancy so we have partner admin If they do they may be able to create you an admin user depending on their granulated access

If I recall when you build the admin installer you tick various boxes you want

Moving from Inventry to Sign-In App Questions
dapaulio replied to Jobos's topic in Educational Software
Is it signin that reads the number backwards…. I have in memory a door system and sign in system that does read the same number but backwards and I can’t recall whether this is accurate but something to look for which will make registration even easier -
We too have audio delays on the hdmi. We have optiplex laptops and desktop. Not long enough for me to be concerned in all fairness

Moving from Inventry to Sign-In App Questions
dapaulio replied to Jobos's topic in Educational Software
Think Iv just answered another one of your post re sign in Sign in app all the way. They have mobile an app which any admin can take fire evacuation from any device with internet. Signin is a build it yourself solution. They send you all the parts to build in to your reception area They then give you a logon to the cloud hosted console for you to configure. Links with azure etc so updates automatically when you create accounts. A must have imo is the additional sims write back license marking kids late -
Sign in app came in a lot cheaper than most but I would describe it as your ikea of sign in system. They send you the stuff you build and fit it. It very intuitive I love it we have opted also for the additional sims write back license which marks student in late I like the app they have and if your in a good area it use location in services to sign you in and out automatically. This feature ain’t great if mobile coverage is poor in your area

Sims connected is uses openvpn for all your data extractors It is what it is. Had a couple outages here and there. Average may one or twice a month. General feedback from the schools who are on it. Slows productivity down for admins with extra steps when exporting data. If you using sims to read only or write it’s ok enough for that. If your data manipulating in to excel word etc it’s a nightmare with comments saying it’s takes far to long. Unnecessary steps to get it off their server environment on to yours. I have another trust looking at moving into arbor. Connected is a stepping stone to next gen and If your a sims fan they really need to get next gen out quickly and make sure it’s efficient at what it does They have left it really late

Thanks your comment about being patient, it was semi accurate. So I originally left the changes for 48 hours and it hadn’t done anything but adding the license in on reduce app and services to single app within the license took a couple hours and then freed itself. Continuing this thought process I ran the users out of aad sync practically removing their 365 account waited small while whilst reprocessing all the licenses in between. Then adding the the accounts back in to the aad sync. They recovered with their a1 and a3 licenses however on reprocessing the licenses this began correcting them and properly removed the a1 license. With now 6 exceptions which are just being damn persistent Conclusion my thoughts are office 365 got stuck a little and also I need to give more patience. It just needed a prod first to wake it up. This got me thinking as I have had an email from ms to update aad connect to now entra connect. Wonder if gremlins like this have been discovered and fixed in this part. Also to back it up I hadn’t noticed but one of the screens just snipped off my screen shots a deprecation from 9sept for that gui. So may all be linked Thanks for everyone’s help

PaperCut - Not printing from Office 365
dapaulio replied to garethEds's topic in Enterprise Software
Assuming you checked the obvious. Is the device print release? The ip address of the printer matches the print server port? The virtual q as the delegated right to hand the document to the printer? Same with the printer device it is enable for print release? Does it not hit the virtual q? Does it not hit the direct q? I had a similar issue on a specific version of papercut can’t remember which version it was but was a good couple years ago. Are you fully patched to the highest minor level of papercut. Are you eligible for the latest major release? -
To clarify in that state There is no license associated to inherited alstaff group The a3 license is associated to membership of the security group a3 for faculty
-
Originally I had A1 faculty licenses assigned by security group A Now I have A3 licensing assigned by security group B Security group A also is a dependent membership which give the staff the environment they should have when they log in, so I can’t just remove them from the group and have done with it. It’s doesn’t work anyway as explained later My problem is that when I remove the license inherited by security Group A the license doesn’t remove properly from the members. So A3 license now says it in conflict with the a1 but the inheritance of the A1 should be gone. I have tried manually removing the license from the user but can’t. When I remove the group memberships on an effected user, sync with aad and then add them again it reassigned the license and still conflicts Move the user out of the aad sync scope effectively deleting the aad user and then moving it back in to scope. The licenses still apply and conflict. No matter what I try I simply can’t get rid of this A1 license so the a3 license will fully engage tia

FYIi was doing some more googling and did come across an article that suggested you couldn’t play with players from another tenant (makes sense really) Tested him on another account in the same tenancy as mine and straight in. Thanks

The only thing I thought of that mine and his a3 licenses are from different tenants and could that be the reason why? Other info that may help is my isp is with sky and the parent shield is disabled His pc is windows 10 My laptop is windows 11 Both Minecraft’s versions are the same 1.21.05 Any help appreciated.

As for the uninstaller sccm says it was successfully deployed but logging on proves otherwise. i think i am doing it wrong but this is not the end of the world as i can simply rebuild the computers in the lab Thanks you to all that have contributed. just having it install on its own save me hours of doing it manually

****EDIT **** I have fixed the installation of adobe now So i have had this both with the uninstaller and the installer setup downloaded from adobe. Still having a mare with this as the error for both in the deployment status Adobe CC 2024,PS1000CB,SD Adobe CC,Required,2024 Core Adobe - Windows Installer (*.msi file),Failed to locate content,No additional information,0x87D01202 (-2016407038),The content download cannot be performed because the total size of the client cache is smaller than the size of the requested content.,##REDACTED##,2,27/08/2024 16:21,Error,MSI,No,(SYSTEM),No,No,Yes, the content is good on the distribution point, and the application is showing available. there is plenty space on the clients computers. An online suggestion is to increase the cache on the client computer. however that was answered negatively.

We try to donate to our local primaries. Although our strategy even for primaries within our supported trusts is to move to windows 11. It will act as a stop gap for them

Thanks All, all comments been super helpful. the adobe uninstaller, can you clarify the source of this exe? i have been using the cleanup tool using command line in an application script but see you have it as an msi installer \\server\sources$\Apps\Adobe CC\AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool.exe" --removeAll=ALL can you detail more how the uninstaller application is created and if it isnt the cleaner tool where is the source of the uninstaller Thanks

Ahhh I like it. But now they made something that defeats the object of having the owl in the first place. Which is strange why they sell them together as a package Anyone tested the bar on its own for Voice clarity and mic pickup

I too always wary of in place upgrade of the dc’s. Been burnt once in my career by doing so. Likely a lot more reliable these days but also like that it’s a clean install. So alway spun up a couple new vms, promoted and transferred the roles, demoted then decommissioned the server. Not rushed each stage may have a couple days/weeks before promo and decommissioning of old servers Personally never done hyper v but would probably be more cautious and normally come inline with a server refresh

Jeez two in one school is unheard of. [emoji23] As good as they are they are expensive to buy The things I had to do to convince the slt to buy one of these was well beyond but I didn’t want them to buy cheap and slate it for the next couple years giving me no end of grief

Iv already positively commented but thought I’d add to it having just used one myself just yesterday in a teams meeting of 3 in the room plus remote guest. the owl was responsive to the speaker and seemed very clear to our remote guest. (Our remote guest never asked us to repeat what we said anyway) Now it maybe just me but I thought to myself where do I look when I am speaking as the tv where my guests were on were on the wall and the owl was in the middle of the conference table and when I’m speaking it looks like I’m looking for flies around the room. Poll- Do you look at the owl (straight in the camera) or the tv where my guests are.
-
I have a couple schools with this in the middle of a classroom / conference rooms. The 4 camera allow for full 360 vision and accurate on tracking and zooming to the speaker. Yes plug and play using teams and google meet. Only thing is you have to let your browser access the camera and mic which some users had trouble with as they ignored the prompt. Definitely worth the cost in my eyes and definitely trumps other like conference cameras

For future reference Under guardians categories, there is a category tester that you can put any site in and it will return all the categories it found in both custom and built in. Not to be confused with policy tester.
