1. Hi, Anyone willing and able to recommend reliable companies who can deliver good quality units for foyer areas? Thanks Barney
2. Thanks fir your comments. .I am not particularly interested in fingerprint biometrics, we want to use card readers as ultimately I want to leverage the the "smart" we already have in cards for print and photocopy management
3. Hello! Looking in to possibly introducing card based registration and LiveRegister looks to tick most of the boxes. Anyone had any dealings with them? Regards
4. Hi everybody, Just wondering if it is possible to get Moodle to automatically open an html popup when users login? I'd like to "direct" users to survey our LRC colleagues have setup. Thabnks
5. We are a sixth form college who have been using Mahara for 3 years now in Visual and Performing Arts, Media and also for EPQ (Extended project qualification) It's a great piece of software provided you have a clear definition of what you want to do with it. The most important thing to recognise it that you shouldn't consider it an alternative to a learning platform such as moodle. Mahara is student owned/centred learning, Moodle is teacher lead. What are thinking about using it for? Drop me a line if you want more details about how we use it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
7. When you say "stay in touch" I assume you mean work collaboratively? Mahara can be used as a shared workspace where users have a file area, discussion areas etc. Is this what you mean?
8. Sweet. Thanks
9. Thanks CyberNerd but it's Windows...I have added the following to the bottom of the my.ini [Connections] Max_Connections = 500 Will see what happens
10. We periodically hit this problem. admin/dbperformance.php says max connections is 151. I want to change this so I'm looking in xampp/mysql/bin/my.ini but I can't see any connections sections.
11. Thanks to the pair of you! Used the livehttpheader and found our library search block included a link to a https library whose certificate had expired. Thanks agains
12. You don't have to patronise me, of course it was a accidental repost and I read your post. Thanks for your pointers, I need to go through all the links on the homepage (assume it would just the homepage or could it be anywhere???) looking for a https link
13. Yes, totally accessible externally and has been for a couple of years. Again, this issue happens with ie 8 and above. Linux, MAC IOS or PC running any other browser report no SSL errors - to me, why would they, we aren't using any????
14. I realise it's a browser issue, in fact an IE issue - it doesn't happen with any other browser. What I don't understand is, if it's an SSL issue why aren't other browsers reporting similiar. Also non of the settings for http security are turned on in Moodle see image, so why is IE looking for certs??? Confused.

16. Apologies in advance if this has been posted before - I did search the forum but can't find a solution! Users logging into Moodle using ie8 (it's only ever IE - not any othere browser, surprise surprise ) receive the IE has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors. Click here for options. Tried adding site to Local Intranet but the error persists! Thanks in advance
17. I have a 3Com Campus wide managed network with 60 access points and have had a Xirrus array for "guest/mobile" student access in the main foyer area. It's will cost me considerably less to replace than I originally paid to replace all my 3Com kit with Xirrus arrays and I will need 10 arrays rather than 60 AP's. From what I have seen here and in higher education I personally wouldn't describer their kit and underpowered, the opposite if anything.
18. Joking aside, underpowered?
19. Interesting thread, amazed there has been no mention of Xirrus whastsoever
20. Hi all, Since upgrading to Exchange 2010 we've had a problem with Moodle not sending e-mail. We've obviously changed the settings in Server/Email to point to the Exchange Hub transport server with the correct authentication. When a moodler sends a message to another moodler, moodle says, "message sent by e-mail" and the message appears in pop up window it never arrives by e-mail. I have looked at logs but cant see anything. Am I missing something blindingly obvious???
21. Thanks very much, Ernie looks just the ticket.
22. Anyone able to recommend a booking system for peripheral/multimedia devices that would allow students to request/book resources and devices online.
23. Sounds interesting. Could you talk me through it briefly? Thanks
24. Tell me about it! I've got a Google Mini sat on my network that has happily indexed 40,000 odd documents for the last 5 years without any problem. I now have to try and replicate that performance in Moodle.
