Colwyn Technologies (part of Flywheel IT Services Ltd) are looking for a talented and motivated Field IT Engineer who has a real flair for technology and thrives on providing exemplary customer service to support and cover Schools in the London area on a full-time basis. The IT Engineer is responsible for supporting the IT services of the various schools with a particular emphasis on customer service. Since the role is a “floating role” to cover various schools in the London area, a full driving licence and access to a car is necessary and travel expenses will be recompensed. Where necessary the incumbent can work from home and provide IT support services on a remote basis if possible. IT Engineers operate and maintain computer systems and networks in the schools that we support to ensure users receive an effective IT service Duties and responsibilities include: • Serving as the first point of contact for IT support within schools • Repairing and replacing damaged computer and network components • Ensuring the security of client and server computers by installing and upgrading antivirus and firewall software • Supporting people whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices • Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly • Administering a helpdesk using ITIL principles and guidelines • Support colleagues and teams • Testing new hardware and software before full-scale installation • Troubleshoot and support online lessons, conferencing and recording both remotely and on school sites • Support the schools PC and AV infrastructure, including a range of operating systems and hardware devices. • Manage and maintain computer suites, AV in halls and classrooms for teaching functions. • Desktop deployment and management. • Maintain and configure hardware and software including imaging and placement of equipment. • Build, rebuild and configure computers and IT equipment. • Maintain stock control, inventory systems and auditing. • Ensure the security of hardware and software in computer suites is maintained. • Self-diagnose problems and repairs on computers and peripheral equipment. • Troubleshoot network connectivity. • Troubleshoot and configure print devices. • Have an active involvement in the wider projects. • Research and suggest technology, equipment and solutions to enhance and develop new and improved methods of teaching and learning. • Ensure compliance and understanding of all IT and technology-based policies. • Take part in and deliver regular and appropriate training across the schools. • As technology changes at a quick pace, keep up to date with developments and changes. • Provide support for Open days and events outside of core hours as required. • To ensure practice is in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations. • Weekends and out of hours work maybe required as and when needed • To commit to upholding the principles of Safeguarding The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share the commitment.
