Hi all, I've noticed that my XP laptops continue to use the wireless network when the network cable is connected, even if it is already connected when started up. The only way to make them change is to turn the wireless off. It makes a significant difference to the time taken to keep them up to date. Is there any way to force it to choose the wired over the wireless network when available? I haven't tested the one win 7 laptop yet.

Scratch has the 'if 'control loop and the 'touching x ' sensing item, you can choose 'edge' to make something happen when your rocket reaches the edge. The 'if on edge bounce' motion item is useful in some circumstances too. Hope this helps.

Another vote for Scratch - my year 6s pick it up very quickly. There are some good pdfs of ideas on the website. Also planning to try Prezi with them next half term.

Now hearing that Sparklebox has been taken over by a legitimate company and that some schools are allowing its use again. Still blocked here - Essex - anyone know any more?

I was interested in computers from early on and taught myself programming in the back of a high street computer repair shop. There was no O level in computing way back then but did A levels in Maths, Further maths and Physics followed by a Mechanical engineering degree. Worked in R & D in various places for 10 years. After 1st child got chance to program and wrote Retail Management software for some of the London Museums. After 7 years and second child was asked to join local school as Learning support assistant and gradually did more and more IT until that became my job. Have now been there 10 years, no formal qualifications, just self taught.

The problem with exporting to .doc files is an Office 2007 compatibility problem for which there is a fix on the pearson or heinneman website.

I recommend Scratch from MIT

Can anyone help with requirements for projector and screen for school hall. Am being quoted for a widescreen screen and an xga projector. 1. Is it worth looking for a Widescreen projector? 2. What lumens? Over 2300? How much difference does short throw make? 3. Contrast? 4. LCD/DLP? Will also have cd, dvd and laptop connection. Anything else to look out for? What do you use?
