Why are we not updating to 1.4.2 or whatever it is now? Not sure what mods are installed?
-
I have been searching for a way to keep my mod server up to date with the minimum of hassle for both myself and players. As such I am running a test of the Beta release of the FTB mod pack for Minecraft 1.4.3. The purpose of this test is to see if the mod pack works, if the server can handle it (I'm paticularly worried about disk space usage by mystcraft ages) and to see if there's any of the mods that seem overpowered, etc. You can download the client launcher from here: Feed the Beast and put it in an empty folder some place on your machine. When you it run and login it will download all the mods and construct a fully modded minecraft install with no intervention on your part (you might need to change the memory settings in the options though). There are regular updates to the launcher and the mod packs. The server address is: address: trickerymodmc.provisionhost.com (ip 76.74.200.86) port: 25565 (default minecraft port) Server is whitelisted (request access from me) and is set to survival on hard difficultly (don't be out at night without protection!) As for the mods I have most of whats listed on the forum post for FTB (I've added the most informative link I can find for each mod listed): ComputerCraft + Turtles Industrial Craft 2 (+ Advanced Machines +Advanced Solar Panels, + + Nuclear Control) BuildCraft IronChests ThermalExpansion Railcraft ExtrabiomesXL StevesCarts Mystcraft Forestry EnderStorage Rei's Minimap Factorization (IC2 Submod) The Twilight Forest GregTech (IC2 submod) PortalGun GraviSuite InvTweaks ObsidiPlates - Presure plates that can only be activated by players. ForgeIRC So the big ticket mods I'm missing are Redpower, Thaumcraft and EE3 (they simply aren't done yet). Not bad for a first beta release though.

sent you a PM with server details
-
Don't worry, I tend to watch them as they're released. Along with Sips and Sjin's channel.
-
Will do when i get home and PM you the details. Yeah the jaffa one has Simon on it, hence why nothing gets done, duncans series is quite good, they started this one after "the tekkit war" when everything got nuked. edit : Just noticed the one you mentioned was duncans, sorry for spoilers ;x

Hi, yup add me bladedanny please. Play Technic locally, not found a good tekkit server yet so should be good. Also check out yogscastlalna's previous tekkit series, he gets more done than the main channel.

Just wondered if anyone is still playing minecraft? I bought a tekkit server after playing locally for a while that has some free slots if anyone is interested. If you are you just need to let me know your minecraft ID for the white list and ill send the details. Yogscast of tekkit : What is tekkit? Tekkit is a mod "pack" for minecraft, but us packaged with its own launcher, its the multiplayer version of technic found here Tekkit | Technic Pack It consists of Industrial Craft 2 which adds science to minecraft allowing you to make machinery powered by many sources of energy, from solar energy to nuclear power plants. You can create quarry's to mine for you, Jet packs to fly. Piping to take items from A to B and sort them. Too many cool stuff to mention really! Buildcraft, more pipes, engines to power things, pumps, fuel, oil. This links up a lot with IC2. Equivalent Exchange 2, Magic and alchemy in minecraft, allows you to exchange items for other items. each item has a EMC value, dirst being 1, diamonds being a few thousand. This mod lets you turn a few thousand blocks of dirt into a diamond, or 1 diamond into a few thousand blocks of dirt, works with most items in the mod apart from constructed machines and pipes ect, so if your short on redstone but have an abundance of coal you can exchange it. It also adds other cool things like rings of power that allow flight, larger chests, and the ability to repair items. Red power 2, adds new gems, more common that diamond and almost as good for tools and weapons. New redstone cabling that can go up walls, wireless power, handsaws so you can cut blocks down to 1/2,1/4 and i believe 1/8 size for decoration. Volcano's too! Railcraft, more advanced rail system, launching pads, cart dispensers and various others. Computercraft, create mining turtles you can program from central computers. uses the LUA language. Balkons weapon mod, muskets, flails, throwing knifes, spears, and cannons Misc : minimap, upgradable chests, minable ores in the nether, build in recipe help. All runs off bukkit so other addons can be added.

25565 by default, that's on TCP and UDP

What port number does minecraft use for multiplayer?
-
I had the same problem on one of my early servers, took ages to sort (this was before Bioms). As LiamH said hand out the axes, possibly spawn a load and put them in a storage box
-
Trouble is some of the tree's are quite high, I think even a lake would struggle to stop the fire. Water is a pain to use on a large scale as well to make it still water, still think arming a load of geeks with axes is the way forward. Or maybe some map editing...

The forest fire

I'm all for the lake edugeek idea. But who will pay for my moving fees? My little hidy hole is in the area you propose to make lake edugeek. -
Although it looks nice we really could do with dealing with it. It also seems to spawn new burning trees, the area outside my cave was clear of trees and fire but I came on a bit later to find more trees on fire. perhaps some kind of wall around the area and we could turn it into lake edugeek?
