Was it an upgrade install?

If so did you use an iso or the assistant?

Upgrade via the assistant.

Only seems to be one computer currently and mostly when they use switch user. Sign off and back on again seems to fix this....

Has done it on a cold boot as well.

Did notice this in the latest build, Not applied it yet.

April 25, 2017—KB4016240 (OS Build 15063.250)

Improvements and fixes

This non-security update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

•Addressed issue where VMs might experience loss in network connectivity while provisioning IP addresses.

•Addressed issue that does not initiate a remote ring on the device when RemoteRing Configuration Service Provider (CSP) is used.

•Addressed issue where a memory leak occurs in Internet Explorer when hosting pages containing nested framesets that load cross-domain content.

•Addressed issue where Internet Explorer 11 does not save JavaScript files when exporting to an MHT file.

•Addressed issue that causes users to get logged out from Web applications intermittently.

•Addressed issue with a very dim internal monitor that may occur when booting with the external monitor only and then switching to the built-in panel only.

•Addressed issue where running Win32 Direct3D applications or games in full-screen exclusive mode causes the system to become unresponsive when resuming from Connected Standby.

•Addressed issue where when upgrading to Windows 10, version 1703, with the system language set to Chinese, the progress page displays geometric shapes instead of the correct localized strings.

•Addressed issue that prevents the lock screen from being disabled using Group Policy on Professional SKUs.

•Addressed issue in Windows Forms configuration options, which causes antivirus applications to stop working at startup.

•Addressed additional issues with compatibility, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

That really looks like the language pack is borked on the install. Try switching to US language and see if it reoccurs.

Had this happen to me to with an upgrade done via SCCM. Using the en-GB version of the ISO. Weirdly it hasn't happened for a couple of days now, only updated to the new cumulative update today too.

I've pulled the update for now until I'm sure this is resolved.

I've installed the latest cu tonight and see what happens tomorrow.

Latest CU installed for me and it happened again this morning, but not to the scale before.

I had my clock and desktop icons, but any new programs I opened were missing text and Outlook refused to open at all.

After logging off and back on again, all worked fine.

This is a rather annoying issue!

What hardware have you seen this on? i5-2400 for me.

Seems like I've been using the en-US 1703 iso to upgrade, not sure if that's a problem

Seems like I can fix the problem with the langauges being wrong via Download MUI for Windows 10 Creators Update (Language Packs for Build 15063) - Winaero

Not tested this on my broken machines as I rolled them back

This is an i3-5005U for me here

I've used the en-GB ISO to upgrade our current en-GB image so shouldn't be anything to do with that I don't think.

spin one up on a hyper v and see what happen dose it do the same my just done this and it look fine will update in a few days

Works fine in Hyper-V, seems to only happen with integrated Intel chips (Every machine on our sites :p)

You should get a notification pop up to tell you Windows is adding new features, if not then go to Settings>Apps>Manage Optional Features

In there you should see them downloading or already installed, if they have installed you will see lots of "Language Supplemental Fonts" listed

If you click on Add a feature, do you see the supplemental fonts in there?

Nope. No features are a available.

Working on a clean image and it will let me do it after windows has installed.. (before joining the domain..)

Do you use WSUS there? If you do I believe it will look at WSUS for optional features (and obviously find none)

I'm half tempted to get rid of WSUS on site....

Yeah it can be a bit of a pain!

If you apply the following GPO and then try it again, it should get around the problem.

Computer Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>System>>Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair

You can set it to enabled and specify the settings or just set it to Disabled and it should look at Windows Update if it can't see it on WSUS

Just confirming this has happened a few times to my test station for 1703 using the upgrade assistant.

I'm gonna hold back on deployment until it's fixed.

Since installing the fonts, this hasn't happened to me at all. The fonts may be the fix, wondering if these could be added to the upgrade somehow.
