Koldov Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Hi All, I am begrudgingly thinking about Windows 10.... I have looked through all the threads about how much needs to be be turned off, how many apps need to be taken out of the image before deployment, how many GPO's need to be used just to get a basic version without bloat and how you have to use all the acronyms you can to get a version fit for a school (or office). My head is spinning with .PS1, wim, MDT, WDS and to be fair reading through some of the posts (that are starting to get a bit long), I feel like giving up and going to a desert island to carve spoons for a living. I've never had to deal with this kind deployment and I now know what my Mum must feel like when she rings me up for advice on what she's done wrong on her computer this time... I can feel a practically vertical learning curve coming on! I don't have anything spare, or powerful enough to run VM's and have absolutely no chance of creating a test network either... So, the first thing I thought I would do is get the Wndows 10 ADMX templates on my server (I have also downloaded 3 ISO's from MS - LTSB 2016, Pro 1607 and Education 1607). Chose the second option, because I don't have 1511, right? OK, added them in to the central store on the server. Dived right in and set up a GPO to remove the (in)famous Cloud Content and it was nowhere to be seen... Went back and downloaded the 1511 version, extracted it and there it is! So, I added all those to the central store as well! Overwriting of course.... Now when I go into the GPO and click on Administrativre Templates I get the following two messages... Help! What have I done...? 1
LeMarchand Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 (edited) It's because they've changed the naming convention of some components. Fix is to delete (I copied elsewhere first, just in case) the offending one/s and rename the new ones. Google "namespace is already defined as the target" and it will give you which ones to delete/rename for each component. Edited March 23, 2017 by LeMarchand 1
abaxter2 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 As you are deploying version 1607 / always best to use the latest ADMX versions, what are found here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53430 I would delete / cut to elsewhere and use the latest version above. - these do include the Cloud Content 1
zag Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Yep I got caught out by this too, download the server and windows 10 templates which seem to be recent. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53430 1
