Windows 10 Default Profile huge!

Hi everyone,

 

I think I am nearly there with my windows 10 image I have got basically everything locked down through the Ultimate windows tweaker tool and removing every packaged app and the applocker rules are applying through a GPO however the final part I am struggling with is the default profile.

 

On windows 10 I have booted to audit mode ran the ultimate windows tool a couple of registry keys and then sysprep with the copy profile command on as per this guide: Default User Profile - Customize in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums now on windows 7 our default profile is 2mb ish however doing what I think is minimal changes on windows 10 our default profile is 160mb which is massively affecting login times!

 

Has anyone encountered this issue and has anyone got a solution? For reference looking at the default folder the majority of space is taken up by app data.

Yep all cleared nothing at all in temp I think unfortuantely it is standard size for windows 10 because as soon as you enter audit mode the default administrator account is 150mb+.

 

I'm going to try the LTSB and see what affect that has on the defualt profile as I think the metro apps must be playing a part in the large profile size!

default profile on LTSB out of the crate is 1.46MB as i am looking at a build atm , this is a bare install from the CD however

I noticed that which is good but as soon as I enter audit mode the default admin account created is far to large and I then make changes to lock the OS down then use copyprofile=true which then copies over the 100mb rubbish.

 

I'm looking at possibly booting into audit mode and seeing if I can load the default users registry hive and make the changes there and see if they stick to the default profile after a sysprep.

If you know the exact changes you need to make to the profile you can edit it directly without going into audit mode. This method keeps it nice and small.

havent got a far as looking at the default profile size after "tweaking" yet so be interesting to see what size i can get it down to
