Laptop battery + Windows 7 + replace battery

Hi guys, I have some crappy little Classmate laptops which are telling me the batteries need replacing. I have replaced some but they are still showing as being rubbish and its been reported to me that they are blue screening and dying. After reading a few threads online where its been mentioned it may be a bios issue or a mb issue I can't work out what it might be. Has anyone seen this before or have any advise on what to do, I have 9 that's doing this so I am a bit annoyed.

Are they actually dying? Had a number of cases of W7 telling porkies over batteries failing, to the point of having to disable the balloon messages warning you about the battery
