Windows 7 Libraries...SLOW

Users are able to get the H:, H:\My Music, H:\My Pictures et al all through Libraries or clicking on Documents, Pictures etc via the Start Menu.

 

However, clicking on any one of these gives users a 10-15 second delay in opening up. The personal folder (one with username) opens instantly, which is something I want to disable whilst I can somehow speed up libraries.

 

Has any experienced this and what did you do to overcome it? Any suggestions are all welcome.

We have had problems with backups over-running into the daytime and searchindexer.exe using too much cpu and i/o resources cause similar issues.

 

I would check task manager on your file server(s).

I've had a look but there's nothing obvious. I've checked Task Manager and enabled a few additional columns relating to I/O and everything is appearing, and working, as it should do normally.

Can anyone share a copy of their modified Libraries (Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos) that is pointing to the H: drive?

 

I thought I had sussed this but it squarely points at nothing, even thought my Default User.v2 profile says it does
