WithoutMotive Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Hi guys, Just replaced our Timetabler's computer. Installed SIMS as normal. Jumping into Options 5, Implementation Manager pops up with the message "cannot read 'n' implementations" ('n' just happens to be 10). No problems on his old machine or any other computer so it's not an issue with the Options directory on the server as the KB article from Capita suggests. Permissions are correct (same problem occurs when logged on as administrator) and the OS is the same as others in the school where it all works. Any suggestions? (awaits notification from brilliant Edugeek app!) Ta.
WithoutMotive Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Anyone any thoughts on this? As a test, I replace Sims.ini on the problem machine with a copy from a working machine. Still no joy.
vikpaw Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 try Runas admin on sims. Remap the S: drive reinstalling SIMS.
TheScarfedOne Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I found sometimes the old SIMS support bits dont install properly, so try running simsinfrastructure again... That sorted mine out last time... 2
The_Windy_Miller Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I think the answer you require is: • Ensure you're in the directory S:\sims\setups • Run NOVASatelliteSetup.exe. Point this at the local workstation • Then run C:\program files\sims\sats\BDE511\setup.exe This needs to be done on each PC that has the problem. 4
Steve21 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 It's the Borland Database Engine part that's needed. Had this on a few computers. Steve 2
WithoutMotive Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 Thanks guys. I'll try these suggestions on Friday when I'm next in.
Twynhamboy Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Definitely just run SIMSInfrastructure. Done this twice in the last week to fix this problem. It is indeed the old Borland 'bits that are missing - to be able to read the Options .dbf files.
WithoutMotive Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Thanks, guys. Was, indeed, all the Borland stuff that was missing. Quick run of SIMSInfrastructure sorted it out. 1
ktopp Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Thanks Windy Miller. 2018 and still having to do this. Heyho!
Templetonk3 Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) I’ve tried this but get the message ‘ an error occurred while attempting to initialise the Borland Database Engine error $2108 when attempting to open the table \\sims\simsdata\\options\imp0012\control.dbf’ when I try to create new from the implementation manager. Any suggestions? Also, in the implementation details pop-up box I am at a loss as what to enter in the gateway and star directory sections. Help much appreciated.
