Pyroman Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Heya I'm wanting to create a database that logs staff taking out walkie talkies and then checking them abck in again. Ideally i'd like this to run off a touch screen machine for ease of use. The first screen should have 2 buttons with IN & OUT second screen with walkie talkie numbers on (say 1-20) and the third screen should have the staff members name and the system will automatically add the time and date. I'd also like a status screen so i can see which walkie talkies have yet to come back in. I haven't started with this project yet but thought i'd put feelers out in case anyone has done something similar. I'm looking at doing this in access as it's the only database i've actually played with and that was when i was doing my ICT GCSE!!!
mats Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Having dabbled very briefly with it, it could be done elegantly with Ruby on Rails. Lots of tutorials out there, just try to make sure they reference the latest version of RoR (or whatever you've got installed). That assumes you have time to learn lots of stuff..
SYNACK Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Just get a copy of visual studio express (free), you can make stuff like that as an app or webapp with some dragging and dropping and a little code.
