FN-GM Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) For web based VPN for students and staff we use Sonicwall SSL VPN. And going to use direct access for staff laptops, works well and free! Edited January 17, 2013 by FN-GM 1

One_Minute_Hero Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 For web based VPN for students and staff we use Sonicwall SSL VPN. And going to use direct access for staff laptops, works well and free! how many students have you on the VPN?
ict_support Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 The Sonicwall SRA4200 is great for SSL VPN and easy to setup, lots of features, will plug in to your AD. Cheap as chips too. If you look for a "old" none branded Dell model you may grab yourself a bargain.
m25man Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Another +1 for the Sonicwall SRA here our clients that have them couldnt live without them. 1. Client based VPN over SSL 2. Reverse Proxy Access via menu 3. RDP clients for both Active-X and Java (if you need to) 4. VNC Clients 5. Sharepoint and WebApp support 6. Tunnel Mode - Allows you to host the SSL-VPN on port 443 whilst passing thru traffic to another server (OWA or similar) All these plus points however they are now licensed for concurrent use. The SRA1200/1600 come with 5 the 4600 with 25 (the 4200 is retired and the 4600 replaces it as its Black with Dell on it, thats about all). The 4600 is about £1100 which isnt cheap but by using the reverse proxy and RDP features you can give the SLT access to their own PC's from home without the need for a Terminal server and all of the added complications. Try the online Demo https://sslvpn.demo.sonicwall.com/cgi-bin/welcome before you make any judgements, HAP+ OpenSSL all have their uses especially when they are free but sometimes you just want to get on with your job and these things let you do just that.
FN-GM Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 how many students have you on the VPN? All 1,200 have the ability but at one time about 100 concurrent students.
