Slow Logon and Roaming Pofiles

Our Windows 2008 R2 SP1 file server is running as a VM under HyperV on a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 cluster.

 

We use roaming profiles for our staff and students redirecting the appdata, desktop, my docs and favorites to their H drive (home). Some staff are complaining of slow logon speeds of up to 5mins with small profiles.

 

The PCs are old up to 5 years so this maybe the issue.

The file serve is stored on a Thecus N8800 and clustered to HyperV with no other VMs on the NAS atm.

 

Is there much point in using roaming profiles?

What average speeds should one expect from a 1gb user and 1gb iscsi connection to the file server?

We had a slow login issue when we first went to windows 7, we had to get a windows hotfix which is only available on request from KB2525332, you might want to see if that has any positive effects.
