Dell XPS Sound indicator issue

This is my daughter's laptop. Ive just ran a cleanup on it, spybot, malware bytes, ccleaner, etc

Before, when she pressed Fn F12 which is the volume control, she got a level indicator in the middle of the screen. It has gone now and I have looked everywhere but cannot get it back. It is a Realtek driver and there doesnt seem to be a setting on the Realtek control screen to sort it, nor on device manager, nor on Sound under Control Panel

What am I missing?

These type of things are usually part of one of the Dell apps.

Ta. It was the Dell Quickset application driver. I wonder what it was that took it out and why?

Some of the dell files register as spyware. Run it on a factory set laptop and you'll see what I mean. Also applies to some Acer software.

It's not overly wrong, some of it is practically malware.

 

The sound stuff is usually one of the support apps and/or built into a custom driver package. It can use monitoring hooks that look like malware hence the confusion by some software. Depending on the application it may have 'immunised'/broken these links.
