Moodle - NTLM Authentication with FQDN

Hello everyone,

 

This question has probably been asked before, but here goes:

 

We have setup a Moodle server that can be accessed by going to the following address: http://moodle and NTLM authentication works correctly.

However, when we change it to use an FQDN: http://moodle.school.lea.sch.uk and then access Moodle internally via that address the NTLM authentication does not work.

 

(Our domain is a .local domain)

 

Any advice/suggestions would be welcomed.

If you're using Internet Explorer check which zone the site is in when accessed through http://moodle.school.lea.sch.uk. You can check this by right clicking on an empty space on the page and then clicking Properties. If it's in the Internet zone it won't pass the NTLM credentials so you'll need to add moodle.school.lea.sch.uk to the Local Intranet zone list in Security. You can do this via Group Policy with the "Site to Zone Assignment List" option.
