bmoorhouseSTM Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Hi, Wasn't sure where to put this so the hardware section seemed most appropriate. We have a HP 5550dtn here at work which is displaying an error message on screen: Downld file now RFU LOAD ERROR RESEND RFU OVER PARALLEL PORT This message is displayed AFTER memory has been checked. Whilst browsing the internet somebody posted a fix - a fix I tried that didn't work. It's too long to write out on here but the general gist of it is that you tell the printer to "ignore" RFU errors. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks in advance Bryn
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Was it this fix? HP Communities - Re: RFU Load Error - 5550DN - Enterprise Business Community
bmoorhouseSTM Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 No, it wasn't. And that fix didn't work. Looks like I'm going to have to re-flash the firmware. Now to hunt round for a PC with a parallel port... And then to find the RFU file on the HP site... I'm in for a fun day.
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 There's a link to the DTN firmware on the bottom of that thread on the HP site.. One job less!
bmoorhouseSTM Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 I looked at that - didn't see the firmware file I needed? Please tell me I'm not being that thick today!?!? Waiting for the Christmas holidays...
VeryPC_Tom_M Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 HP Communities - Re: RFU Load Error - 5550DN - Enterprise Business Community Download link in that post (5/5 on that thread). 5 sleeps until Christmas!!
bmoorhouseSTM Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 mmm, I found that before. Clicked the link though, clicked firmware and there are just links to the hp main site.
bmoorhouseSTM Posted December 21, 2012 Author Posted December 21, 2012 Hmm, an hour plus on the phone to HP and the software they have sent me doesn't work... Apparently I might need Windows XP, despite the fact that the guy from HP was using 7. Why would I need XP then? He didn't know. I lost the world to live yesterday so it's now an after Christmas job. I'll let you know how I get on...
