30 Second logons

Greetings,

 

Been trying desperately to figure out why our logons are taking so long. On my test machine a logon will take 20 seconds wired and 30 seconds wireless with a 6mb forced mandatory profile and redirected home drives. In the windows debug log there is a five second wait where the system seems to be doing nothing and it looks like its during the folder redirection process. Im trying to find out if this is responsible for holding up the logon and what i can do to fix it. The log excerpt is below and i would appreciate your thoughts.

Dont know if this is relevent but I found particularly for our wireless kit, that putting in our local DNS server IP address in the local IP config box it speeded up our logons.

Folder redirection is so slow on Windows 7, on ours it takes 5 secs per different share it connects to. That's what came out in my testing anyway

We found that windows 7 was just generally slow. However disabling features that weren't used helped a whole load, also removing the fancy start menu and putting it back to windows basic e.t.c

 

It all helps, our logons around around 12 seconds now with students, thats with mapping 3 network drives. The adults are around a minute! But they map over 6 network drives, and have much bigger home area's.

thanks guys.. im thinking of checking the network drives next. spent ages trying the old desktop background fix but that didnt work.
