Cubase: Student Compositions ... Massive file sizes!?

Morning all!

 

Just a quick question regarding Cubase and saved composition files ... I've just had a call from our Music Department asking for an increase in disk space for a couple of students. Not a particularly strange request, however some of these students are using between 300-1000Mb each! It look as though the space is taken up by several different compositions and within each composition are several folders for drums, bass etc ...

 

Has anyone else experienced such high disk space usage with Cubase? If this continues with the amount of Music students we have, we're going to have to look at increasing our file server space, as well as our offsite backup space too. Do you have another method of running Cubase e.g. local storage with local backups? If you're running it over a network with home folders, how much space is your Music Department taking up?
