Hi We have used clonezilla as a stand alone thing until now. But we are loking at making a clonezilla server.

I am a bit confused with teh DBRL. We already have a dhcp server etc. so how do we intagrate clonezilla/DBRL into this environment? or I am looking at this all wrong?

Hi Alan,

You might want to check Fog out, extremely easy to use and fairly easy to set up. It does a few additional things to imaging too (ours binds our clients to our domain on first boot after imaging, deploys software (and fixes) and shuts our machines down at night).

Tried fog and had some problems with some machines, so we went to clonezilla. but to be fair it was one of those situations where we just needed it to work.

The only problems I ever had with Fog were fixed by updating the Fog kernel.

I am a great fan of clonezilla but use WDS for deployment. This summer I backed up all my workstations using Clonezilla before rolling out Windows 7.

I just used a very fast pc and carried it to the workstation and used a very long sata/hdd power lead plugged the drive and cloned it to a 3TB disk. It took roughly 10 mins per machine and I have frequently gone back to the images to restore the odd file.

It might seem a little old tech not doing it through the network but it is lightning fast. If you get the Clonezilla Server working please post back here I will be interested in your experiences.

Wish I could help but I played with the idea until I decided WDS/MDT was the way to go.
