wet computer

got in this morning to find 2 pcs base units and screens along with a printer soaking in water which must have got in from a window.

 

I have turned them off and poured the water out of them, any ideas on the best way forward for them now?

I had this when our air conditioning decided to pour water over a bunch of PCs.

I just gave them a good while to dry out and they were fine. The damage will come if you try to turn them on before they are fully dried out.

Had it happen a few times when the roof leaked. Just let them dry and they worked fine.

is it worth putting them upsidown so any water left in falls away from mainboard towards lid or if you are really clver and have space a towel

Take any panels off them you can to allow to circulate and find them space in the boiler cupboard at school or the airing cupboard at home. Leave undisturbed for a good week. Plug back in with caution

 

Seriously though, we had a pipe burst with running water straight through a projector. It spent a week in my airing cupboard at home and went back into service.

If you can, have a chat with your site manager and see if you can leave them in the boiler room. It will be warmer.

Not the same since they shrank from 5 1/4 inches to 3 1/2 inches

Shove a load of silica gel packets in as well, helps draw some of the water out. Y'know, the little papery packets that come with every new gadget you buy.

 

Essentially, patience is your only salvation. Patience, and a little luck.

Before the unclean water dries and the corrodes the motherboard. Clean it with some alcohol which evaporates leaving no residue.

This is from experience of several leaks on several of the PCs here.
